At my interview they only wanted my 2017 transcript, 1040 tax return, and W2’s. I simbmitted the 1040 and the transcript. I’m not sure if they actually wanted it or not at the interview. They wouldn’t even look at my 2018 W2’s. My husband picked his visa up yesterday!!!!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗 Wishing you all the best.

Congrats; wishing you awesome life in the US with your husband.

Hello guys,

Just curious....please what exactly happens at NVC that causes the delays? Is that where documents are verified or at the Embassy stage? Cos this suspense can be so depressing.

Thanks for the enlightenment.

The documents are checked and verified by NVC. The embassy will eventually verify the original records too. Unfortunately, the suspense is part of the game. :)

Thanks Nitra30 for the usual swift response. I wish you are an NVC official, the wait may not be this long 😊.

So you mean NVC stage is where documents are checked for genuineness etc? Wow, I wonder how they are able to do that across the globe. No wonder the annoying delays.🤔

So after reading recent posts, I understand NVC is now accepting transcript only. Though I filed my 2018 tax 3 weeks ago (IRS process most refund in 3 weeks ) and IRS didn't process my Refund and  therefore my 2018 (latest) Tax Transcript is unavailable in IRS website. If my current Tax transcript is not available, whats your recommendation? Should I just provide 2018 Tax return & W2 along with previous years Transcripts? Also, I think, I have to write a letter to NVC about the unavailability of Tax transcript.

Also, do anyone know  how Tax transcript and refund is related? I mean, if my refund is not processed is there any chance my Tax transcript can be available?

I dont think you are require  to submit your 2018 tax transcripts bcoz last date of tax file is april 15th so before than that you are not require to send but if you get interview date after april 15 then you might need to take it with you during interview.

NVC collects copies of your documents and checks for completeness and 'genuineness' (for instance did you submit a copy of current format of birth certificate or old format of birth certificate -obviously they will want the new format).

The real (original) copies will be examined by the Embassy for genuineness (for instance is the actual copy of the new format birth certificate real or fake). Think of NVC as a pass through to USEM; NVC just does the first leg and the USEM does second leg.
