they are just referring to the time that USCIS received the initial petition. It is less important with spousal immigration because there is no 'priority date' per se, but they're just using it as a reference point as to when they started the whole process.

Thank you for the reply. I already knew what you just wrote. I probably thought there must be something that else that i missed regarding the PD. But thanks anyways :)

I think they look at all factors. So for example, your household size, how close you are to the poverty line, if you have stable paychecks coming in, etc.  If you are way above the poverty line, the other factors are less important. They wouldn't outright deny you probably, if anything, they'd tell you in order to proceed you need co-sponsorship.

Yeah so household size is just me and wife (2) i am sponsoring and i am above $10K what is required for poverty guideline.

Our petitions were sent to NVC on February 1st and we have seen or heard anything accept they have received them but they aren't assigned.  Our petition was approved in just 4 months so I can't really complain but it really would be nice to get the NVC stage moving...

You can use website charts to see the poverty lines. I think 125% for household size 2 is around 20,000 income per year. Just check to make sure so you don't get any RFE or anything.

Okay great. You said 10K in your last post as a guideline so I just didn't want you to have any problems. Best of luck.

I will definitely do that.  Thanks for the update.  It is nice to hear anything at this point.  I know they changed their phone hours and they are having troubles with some parts of the country not being able to get through.  I've made dozens of calls and all have ended with "try your call later".
