Greetings all,

So I called the NVC and was told my case had been received. I was supplied two numbers but I don't understand what to do with them or how to track the case.  Also, I was told that my fiance's birthday was put incorrectly and to send a copy of his passport. How should I go about that?  Thank you in advance

Congrats, do you when USCIS srnt it to The Department of State?

This is a thread for K-1 fiancé visa applicants. Their process in most cases will be different then yours. I-R1 are adjudicated in a different location then K-1's so your experience is going to be different. You may want to inquire here: https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/134-ir-1-cr-1-spouse-visa-case-filing-and-progress-reports/

Greetings all,

So I called the NVC and was told my case had been received. I was supplied two numbers (one is your case number which starts with three letters (Columbia is COL which is the designation to which embassy you will be interview at - second series of numbers is your invoice receipt number) but I don't understand what to do with (The COL number is used for different steps along your process - see your P3 for usage)  them or how to track the case.  (Trace you case at ceac.state.gov and use "immigrant" to find the updated status) Also, I was told that my fiance's birthday was put incorrectly and to send a copy of his passport. How should I go about that?  Thank you in advance

Birthdate question: Did they not send you a letter requesting the passport with instructions as to what to do?

No, when I called and she asked for the beneficiary's bday and name to confirm- it did not match what she had on file.  I double checked what I had put in the petition and indeed I wrote it wrong.  She said to said a copy of his passport in an invoice.  So I guess that answers my question.  Would a good picture rather than scan suffice do you think?

Send a letter to USCIS and include your full name, birthdate, receipt number from your NOA1 and a "picture" of your passport bio page. Explain the discrepancy and sign the letter. Send the letter with tracking information.

Hello all, great to see some movement from NVC. Greenbaum, thanks for watching over the herd and keeping us on the right path.

Just wondering if anyone has any insight on this: I did the enquire form on NVC website to update the email addresses about 2 weeks ago. And heard nothing, which isn’t unexpected seeing as USCIS are still to update our case status even though we received our NOA2 about 4 weeks ago. Anyway, I called NVC last week as I saw people with similar NOA2 dates were receiving their NVC case numbers. Sadly, mine was not in the system, I was given the usual “it can take 6 weeks” yarn, and when I asked about updating the email addresses was told that they cannot be updated until our case is received and assigned a case number. Well, 3 days after that I receive an email from NVC saying that our contact details have been updated. I called again to enquire after our case and was told it had yet to be received. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar and perhaps the email should just be considered a standard reply rather than a possibility of our case being there?

Keep the chins up everyone. Almost there!

Just a quick note, the case number you get will start with BGT (as in Bogotá). That's the one you can track with the information Greenbaum provided.

Good luck :)

So according to you I'm hitting grand slams? :D

1. How do I update my email address with NVC Once you receive your NOA2 approval then contact NVC via https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html to update your email address as well as your beneficiary's email address. This will give you an email alert when your file arrives at NVC, your case is assigned and when the file leaves for your Embassy. Enter the petitioner's information as well as the beneficiary's in the "box". Full name, Date of Birth, NOA2 receipt number and WAC number. We have found in some cases that email's are never sent and in other cases this works well. So, your mileage may vary.

Thank you for your quick help, you truly deserve a life time of fruit baskets. I understand there are multiple USCIS locations.  Which do you recommend I send this information to?
