Quick question:

I got laid off this winter, and am only working part-time now -- so our income level has changed slightly. I didn't see it on the forms , but am wondering if they will want to have some kind of verification of income level as before (for affidavit of support). I know that once he's permanent, he wont have to have a sponsor (obviously), but am wondering if that is something they look into.

The form looks relatively simple and straightforward, compared to all the other forms we've done; how has everyone else's experience been with it?

Is this the easiest part? What should I expect? Will there be another interview? How much paperwork do they need? While we have a joint bank account, the mortgage was taken out for the house when he was still in the UK, so its all still in my name, as they explained that we'd have to reapply for the loan to get his name on it (since he couldn't sign the documents whilst in the UK).

Hopefully, they won't think that's suspicious. However, We do have a joint bank account... but that's about it. I don't really feel comfortable about sending a complete stranger my bank account information, though!! Anybody have suggestions for things they sent in to prove the relationship that wouldn't give away such personal information?

Thanks!!

Nick and Nora

I hope so!

You're giving them your SSN, financial info has been given before in previous applications/AOS forms......banking information is nothing new or more private.

Evidence of co-mingling financial assets/liabilities is a key part of this, not sure how you are going to get around it. You will get an RFE if you don't submit enough to satisfy the requirement.

ah well... that's true enough, i suppose if they have tax returns and SSN #'s then a little bank statement won't be anything to worry about. We can submit that, and our son's birth certificate, and my changed soc. sec. card and changed DL< and changed passport...

Unfortunately, although I've called the phone and cable and electric companies to get them to put in in both our names they haven't, and its very annoying. What i find strange though is that for most married couples, the bills only come to one or the other, not usually written to Him and Her... know what i mean?

Although, we could send in a news story that featured us and how we met. lol... i guess that's evidence. :P So no worries. Just don't have loads of documents to send in.

oh well, we will let you know how it all works out.

Thanks for the advice, all. :)

not that I am aware of... I just went through this process a few months ago and nothing financial came up, except for including bank statements and tax forms as proof of a relationship....

tax forms!! of course. thank you, i don't know why i was forgetting that rather large proof if relationship. :P

How did it go for you? Did you get the conditions lifted yet?

I went though CSC and it took just under 2 months with no problems...

I would include bills etc in spouses name and your address and bills etc in your name with your address....

This is what we included...

copy of baby's hospital certificate

copy of baby's death certificate

copy of rental agreement

copy of car insurance

copy of one recent joint tax form

copy of 401K that states that I am the primary beneficiary

copy of health care statement showing that I am covered under hubby's health care insurance

copy of one recent gas bill

copy of one recent phone bill

copy of one recent electric bill

copy of one recent cable bill

copy of recent bank statements

copy of paper showing that hubby added me to his bank account

Copy of some bills (Sirius, Netflix etc) with just hubby's name and our address on it

Copy of some bills with just my name on it and our address

Some envelopes with both our names and address on them...

littlenloud,

You are already 'on the hook' as the Sponsor, and you will remain there - regardless of how your financial circumstances may change - until such time as 1 of 5 events occurs.

Being "permanent", if you mean LPR without condition, is not one of the 5 events.

The way I understood it was that you were the sponsor for three years until their conditional status was lifted (or not). anyways its all confusing and i'm sure i'll eventually get it all straight. ughhh! thanks

Marilyn,

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your baby boy. As a mother myself, I can't imagine what you must have gone through and are going through, but wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts. That poem was very touching and beautiful.
