To the NC filers/ Charlotte filers:

Do you guys have a NC drivers license ?

One of the people I know found that we can technically apply for a license once we have our NOA1 but they also want a valid i94 which seems contradictory.

I got my NC drivers licence as soon as I arrived here in Feb.  Showed them my i94 and was good to go.  Had to complete the exam as well.  It expires when my i94 expires so it is not valid very long

@runninggirl my license expired and I really want to renew to NC driver license but from their website, it looks like the I-797C confirmation is not good enough unless you have your I-94 or EAD card... I may try to go in this week to see what they say but their offices take forever to be seen so...

I went to one today. The lady said I can take that test, because I have the I-797 Notice of Action.

Apparently NOA1 is good enough for them

Wait really? Do you have a valid I-94 as well? Mine expired :( May I ask which DMV you went to?

At the moment yes, but it will expire in 4 days.

However, I explained to her how the Visa works and she looked stuff up and said I can come back at any time to take the test because I have NOA1 and a SSN.

I went to the one in Mooresville.

Gotcha thank you! That's an hour away from me :( I will try the one near me to see what they say first and if they can't help I guess I will make a trip further.

What makes you ask this question? Did something in the letter say you need to?

I think it’s a standard letter for everyone but yes, the second item that we must bring is the medical examination 🤔

Interview scheduled for May 22nd. YAYYY 💃🏾

However, I’m confused about the medical examination part. When I sent my package I sent the vaccination records and I believed I don’t have to do a new medical examination since I did one for my K1 visa in December 2018.

Do I have to do a medical examination again? 🤔

Congrats! I have the same question too since my medical (the one I did in the UK which I sent with the AOS package) was valid at the time I sent in the AOS package but by the interview stage it’s going to be expired since it’s over 12 months... do I need to do the medical again??

03/01/2019 - USCIS Chicago lockbox received case  for AOS/EAD/AP

03/21/2019 - NOA1 received hard copy via post (Notice date 03/14/2019)

It says in parenthesis that if you haven’t submitted it already then you have to bring it with you. Most likely people brought this envelope with them at the POE and/or submitted it with I-485, so I would think it’s not required to be brought with you.

My understanding (please correct me whoever already gone through this process!) that if USCIS requires I-693 they will send you "pink courtesy letter" explicitly requesting it. It is not same as RFE, as they do not want you to send it to them, but they do let you know you have to get one, and bring with you to the interview. I do not think it is same as what you got which is interview scheduling appointment. This is a sample of the aforementioned letter:

Thank you both so much. I didnt send I-693 form but I gave them my medical envelope at the POE and did send them the vaccination records with my package. So I guess I’m good.
