Hey everyone,

We got the notification that the package arrived at the lockbox early this week.

Unfortunately after reviewing what we sent I realized that we forgot a few documents. For the affidavit of support we forgot to send the copy of the sponsor ID (this was an oversight since the request in the bottom of the official checklist after a lot of points that do not applied in general to most applicants). Probably we will get an RFE for this.

The other two things I'm not sure and would like to ask your opinion. I changed my name after the wedding and filled all documents with my new legal name. Obviously all my documentation are in my single name. I sent the marriage certificate with the I485 but didnt think about doing the same with the i131 and i765 since it wasnt on the checklist. Did everyone sent 3 copies of the marriage certificate in case your name changed?

Have a nice day!

For me I did include all 3  certified copy of married certificate. Let's see what happen next.

I guess there is still a bit more room on the March AoS train. Just dropped off our package today and we are back into the waiting game. Good luck everyone.

A bit worried, since we are still waiting for SSN as well, not having that after 3 weeks is rather frustrating.

Have you tried checking your SSN status on SAVE ?

We applied for ssn a littler over 2 weeks ago, and still no news.

I have, and I see one SAVE "hit" on her Passport, but not on I-94.I decoded the number, from the request ID of the "hit" I believe it was from the check that was done at the SSA office on the day when we applied, not at any time later.

Welp, I just checked again, and now it shows case under review in SAVE, with maximum 5 days left. I am worried, because by that point she will have less than 60 days left on her I-94, which means CA DMV might throw a wrench into proceedings.

Ok, thank you. I wasn't sure if it had to be three years worth of tax returns. I was in school for  awhile after the military so I didn't file for 2015, 2016 I filed but it was only for Oct -Dec (graduated college and started job).

On the form itself it only asks for one year, there is a check box to "optionally" provide 2 years more.

We have 30 days left on my husband's I-94 and we're about to go to the Texas DPS on Thursday for a state ID, armed with his NOA1 and his new SSN card; hopefully that'll be enough for them.

Good luck! Please update how things go there. The limbo of AOS is troublesome since during this time person is legally allowed to be in US but they have no proof to that effect. I double checked CA site, and if there is less than 60 days left on "DHS supplied identity document" they will accept and process application, but will not mail out the card.

Took my husband 3 weeks to get his SSN. He was convinced it would never come and then there it was!

It took us probably about 1.5 months to finally get the number, at first apparently because the POE was really slow to send the information to the necessary government database (even though we gave it at least a week), and then apparently because her name was really similar to many other peoples' names, and so they had to spend extra time to "ensure that they were giving the right benefits to the right person", or something like that.

She was also convinced that it would never come 😆

So if the person has a really common name/information, that could be causing the delay.

We just kept bugging them every couple weeks to ensure that the case was moving along.

I guess they are lucky lol  because I was convinced it would never come and it never did. At first the worker told me I wasnt elegible for a SSN with my K1 visa, I went again a week after with evidence that I was elegible ( So I actually applied 1 month after POE). I waited 4 weeks went back to the office they told me to wait 2 more weeks. Went back after the 2 weeks but this was 15 days before my I-94 expired. She told me it was still at DHS and some days later they called me that they couldn’t give me a SSN because my I-94 is about to expire. 😒🙄

Yay! It was a lot to do right!

Yeah it was!  We spent the whole weekend going through the paperwork multiple times.  Then Sunday I spent a good part of the day going through multiple posts on VJ and other immigration sites, plus USCIS to make sure we understood exactly what supporting evidence was needed for each form (ended up submitting THREE certified copies of her name change for 485/131/765 because you can never be too sure).  Now reading other posts about how much trouble people run into with the ineptitude of USCIS in regards to the AOS process (losing paperwork, RFE's for stuff that was included in the original packet, etc) my stress has already gone into overdrive and I feel like my head will explode.

Sigh.........I need to learn to calm down.......
