I submitted my second round of service requests on September 4th (for both EAD and AP). I got this response on my AP: "Due to workload factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing your case. USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in the order received and in a timely and efficient manner. "

This is contradictory to what was sent to the congresswoman's office. My SR for the EAD has been assigned to an officer as of 9/14 and I'm still awaiting a response.

It is really too bad that they can not supply useful information.   But it is encouraging to know that there are indications that your case is hopefully assigned to an officer.

I submitted my first service request for my AP on September 6th  (2 weeks ago) and still waiting for a response.  (My I-485 (ready for scheduling), I-131 (case was received), and I-765 (fingerprint review completed) were submitted to USCIS in early March).   Hopefully we both hear something useful soon.

Ah ok, thank you for clarifying. It is incredibly frustrating through really no fault of your own. I presume CBP collected sealed envelope from  you at point of entry? That is where it was suppose to be. I don't know if they check to make sure it is there though. Vaccination record is DS-3025 that you probably send to them with your I-485. The sealed packet suppose to have another copy of it but I doubt it they would have that, but not the rest of it. Hopefully they will be able to track it down soon!

Yep, they took the sealed envelope at the airport.
I did send the vaccination record with my i-485 application.. Well, we'll see how it goes. Fingers crossed they magically find it or that they send an RFE within a week 🍀

Hi all,

I am joining the group. Nice to meet some fellow frustrated people dealing with this tough and ongoing process. :)

I filed the family based AOS on March 20th 2019. I have fought with USCIS for my EAD due to an extreme delay and a pending job offer and this week my case has finally changed to card being produced. The AOS is still stuck on Scheduling Interview since August 6th. Does anyone know how long it could still take for an interview appointment? We are in NJ.

Best of luck to you all!! Anna

Hi Anna,

Congrats to your EAD approval!!

My NOA is March 6th and I have the "Ready to be scheduled for an interview" update since April 8th. Some people get the "Interview was scheduled" a few days or weeks later. For me, it's been more than 5 months ...

Hi Gigi,

Thank you very much!!! Haha it was really a fight though, I had to apply for an expedite after I have been waiting for almost 7months to get my approval.. I don’t understand why they work on all the expedited cases after one month, but forget the patient people who are waiting and inquiring for 6months..

oh no!! @Gigi2017 5 month is a crazy long time! Which state are you applying from?

Yes, this whole process is crazy. Lots of people from last October and November are still waiting to get their EAD/AP and they still don’t have interview date yet.

My EAD got approved after 5 and a half months (August 12) but my card got lost at the usps and I got it 2 weeks later, and my SSN card also didn’t arrive just 3 and half weeks after the approval.

My husband and I are in Southern California, our field office is Santa Ana and the minimum waiting time for the interview is 13 months (that’s what the uscis processing time website says)...

I am sorry to hear that your process was so messy and chaotic!!! I hope now you found work and were able to bring some normality into your life and your marriage. @Gigi2017 It is really really hard sitting at home when your partner is able to work.. Your entire life is on hold and you can not build a future together. The first months feel like holiday but it gets boring fast!!! :)

Does anybody know if I have to do anything regarding my old social security card? I have one from an old J-1 visa. It says: valid for work only with DHS authorization.

Does anyone have an idea if I get a new one sent automatically? Or should I contact my local social security office?

Thanks! I got a job at Petco 2 weeks ago and I love it!!

about the SSN , they told me at the SSA office that we have to change the SSN card after we get the Green card. Go with the actual card and ask for the update. Next update will be after naturalizaton. With the EAD I got the “valid for work only with DHS authorizaton “.

Hi Gigi,

Congratulations!!! Happy for you that you found a great job!

That is very interesting what you say about the SSN. Good news! Then I can work as soon as the EAD arrives :)

Do you know how they calculate the time to wait for the interview? From the NOA1/application received date or from the EAD approved date? Would be crazy to have to wait another 11,5 to 26 months from now on!??

NY, NJ and CA seem to be very long waiting times... so frustrating..

As far as I know the EAD and the AOS is two separate things. For the interview they calculate the waiting time from the first NOA.

yes, you don’t need new ssn card when you receive then EAD. You’ll need to go to change it when you receive the green card. That’s what they told me at the SSA office.

Oh yes you are right! That makes total sense. Ok at least the 7months wait counts then. Do you know whom to contact now that the case has moved to the local office? (in case that the case runs out of normal processing times?) Do you contact the local office or USCIS?

We will probably move soon, so then our case will really take long... I heard it goes back to the end of the queue..
