"On April 4, 2019, we scheduled an interview for your Form I-485." I went to the interview on May 13, 2019. Received "case is being held for review" notice.

Ooh, I see. Ive never heard of anyone getting EAD/AP after interview but since it's being held for review...let us know what the ombudsman says!

Is that standard procedure? If so, that might explain my issue. Dates in chronological order:

12/28/2018-Submitted I-765 with I-131 for free EAD/AP renewal

05/13/2019-Went to I-485 interview. "Your case is being held for review."

05/23/2019-Date of I-485 RFE

06/04/2019-Expiration date listed on initial EAD/AP (EAD part automatically extended till 12/01/2019)

06/13/2019-Local field office received my RFE response (according to USPS). Online case status doesn't reflect that; online case status still says "we scheduled your interview."

08/02/2019-I called USCIS about the pending I-765 and I-131 being out of processing time. They submitted a service request; officer still hasn't been assigned to the service request.

09/09/2019-I called USCIS again about the pending I-765 and I-131. They submitted a 2nd service request.

09/10/2019-I submitted a request for case assistance to the Ombudsman for the pending I-765 and I-131.

I honestly don't know but since the green card cancels the ead it might be the case.

You'll get a notice a month in advance of the interview. You should be getting a letter in the next few days.

Only a maximum of 2 people can be off on the same day at her job and in order of seniority. So, everyone tries to get their vacation requests at least 2-3 months in advance. She already cannot take time off close to almost any major holidays/ long weekends because other people have higher seniority.

You could give calling them a try but I think I remember someone on this thread whose interview notice letter was lost and they called, and the only response they got was that they could fax them the letter if it didn't arrive within 5 days. I can't recall if they would give them the date over the phone. But never hurts to try. Im sorry its so difficult my husband had a similar problem, and someone else had actually already asked for the day of our interview off because of their kid's school graduation. So they only gave him a few hours off, it was tough. Hope it works out for y'all

And I have an answer but it is probably the most frustrating answer I could have received:

"Thank you for your inquiry regarding this constituent’s immigration matter.  This case is currently within our normal processing times.  Our records indicate that we received a response to a request for evidence for the underlying I-485 application on 6/18/2019.  Pursuant to 8 CFR § 103.2(b)(10), if USCIS issues a request for initial evidence on either the Form I-765 application or the principal Form I-485 application, the processing timeframes start over from the date of receipt of the initial evidence.

It appears that the National Benefits Center is currently processing cases of this category filed on or before March 30, 2019. We can use this information to estimate that your case is about 3 months away from being assigned to an adjudicator.

Please let us know if you don’t hear back from USCIS by 12/10/19."

😭

Wow!  Thanks for posting this.

I had an RFIE on the underlying Greencard 485, and as best I can guess, it was processed on 16th July.  So if I understand this message correctly, the processing start-date for my AP/EAD gets reset to July 16th from the original March 22nd.

Is anyone else in this situation!!

OMG, the RFIE was a mistake that the lawyer made on the 485 application, and now its going to cause me to be unable to travel in October, and unable to see family until next year!

My husband had no issues coming back into the country with this emergency AP this week. Huge relief. They only asked how long he was out of the country. Unfortunately there is no change in his AP/EAD status. AP still says they sent an RFE even though they’ve had the response for a week already. EAD still says fingerprint review completed. We are at 6 months now...but green card interview is in two weeks so I’m thinking we just leave it!?

Great to hear.

Maybe your wife can speak to her supervisor and explain the situation since it's a pretty important day to take off. Worse case she's gonna have to call out sick for the day. You wouldn't want to have to reschedule your interview!

It's epic. There's been no communication from USCIS (obviously) about what is actually happening to my specific case just this random rule of theirs that could apply in this situation. I'm hoping that they say it could be restarted but still may only have paused our cases so the delay will only be a few weeks. I'll definitely post what happens. Good luck to you!

We had our interview in Honolulu yesterday but didn't get an immediate approval, I checked this morning on the old site and MY Case was APPROVED.. The interview was straightforward but my husband(fiancee) struggled a little on his old addresses and job timeline as we didn't review that information before the interview . Anyway , see you guys in forums again in a couple of years😀

Ignore my comment on your page. We had our interview this morning and did not receive an immediate approval. My husband struggled with the previous address question and dates he lived there. So now it’s a waiting game.
