Exactly, I got my ssn card when I was here as an au pair 15 years ago. I have since then lost it and never bothered to ask for a replacement. I know my ssn by heart and never has anyone asked me to show the actual card. And I've had 3 jobs on different eads. I also would never show it as a form of ID even if I did have bc it doesn't have your photo on it so who's to say it actually belongs to me? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Any employer will know how to verify work authorizations without having to see your ssn card. You guys don't have to worry about what it says on your cards.

Actually, I got hired to Petco. I had my paperwork today and the manager asked me to show him my SSN card and EAD as well. He even had to put on the I-9 the EAD’s expiration date. He asked me when I’ll have my green card interview and I said it should be around next spring.

My interview date is approaching. What are the documents I should take? I submitted my medical and affidavit of support with i485. Does the medical report get expired and they ask you to do another one? Mine dates end of Feb, 2019. Also, what kind of questions do they ask? Are we, me and my spouse, asked questions separately?

No idea where they got that information from, considering on USCIS's website it says 60 days after receiving your response to an RFE, you're no longer being "actively processed" and thus can send a service request. https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayONPTForm.do?entryPoint=init&sroPageType=onpt

And I have an answer but it is probably the most frustrating answer I could have received:

"Thank you for your inquiry regarding this constituent’s immigration matter.  This case is currently within our normal processing times.  Our records indicate that we received a response to a request for evidence for the underlying I-485 application on 6/18/2019.  Pursuant to 8 CFR § 103.2(b)(10), if USCIS issues a request for initial evidence on either the Form I-765 application or the principal Form I-485 application, the processing timeframes start over from the date of receipt of the initial evidence.

It appears that the National Benefits Center is currently processing cases of this category filed on or before March 30, 2019. We can use this information to estimate that your case is about 3 months away from being assigned to an adjudicator.

Please let us know if you don’t hear back from USCIS by 12/10/19."

😭

The law is a bit confusing on this one and the individual USCIS employees could interpret it differently. Not sure if they have an internal memo clarifying it.

Quote

(10)Effect of a request for initial or additional evidence for fingerprinting or interview rescheduling -

(i)Effect on processing. The priority date of a properly filed petition shall not be affected by a request for missing initial evidence or request for other evidence. If a benefit request is missing required initial evidence, or an applicant, petitioner, sponsor, beneficiary, or other individual who requires fingerprinting requests that the fingerprinting appointment or interview be rescheduled, any time period imposed on USCIS processing will start over from the date of receipt of the required initial evidence or request for fingerprint or interview rescheduling. If USCIS requests that the applicant or petitioner submit additional evidence or respond to other than a request for initial evidence, any time limitation imposed on USCIS for processing will be suspended as of the date of request. It will resume at the same point where it stopped when USCIS receives the requested evidence or response, or a request for a decision based on the evidence.

Wow I've read it multiple times and still struggle to get meaning out of it! Thanks for the source!

I fear I've reached a dead end and I'm just going to have to wait. Senator's offices apparently use the exact same channel as the congressmen so there is no benefit to getting them on board and it could apparently slow my case down.

I know this has been answered previously but I still feel confused, I got my medical done in India in November 2018 and got the DS-3025 which I submitted with my AOS application in June 2019, my interview will probably be around or after November (NYC Manhattan is the slowest), do I need to get a new medical done here for the interview?

Was the DS-3025 marked complete? https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-b-chapter-3 "K or V Nonimmigrants Applying for Adjustment"

Yes it was marked complete with some A, B waivers, so a new medical is not required right?

Yes my job put my EAD expiration date on the i-9 as well and my ssn, but I've never showed them my ssn card. For none of the jobs. I've just told them I don't have the physical card and they've been fine with it.

My EAD has been picked up by the post office! Since we just moved and I didn't change the address with uscis yet I went to the post office yesterday and put all my mail on hold until I get my card in my hand. The guy at the post office said that they do forward mail from uscis but I already been through the post office losing my EAD card the first time I applied for it in 2012 so I'm not taking any chances!

I’m in the same boat as you Nov medical and Manhattan office. I’m going to guess that we will need a new one but will see what the replies say

My husband had no issues coming back into the country with this emergency AP this week. Huge relief. They only asked how long he was out of the country. Unfortunately there is no change in his AP/EAD status. AP still says they sent an RFE even though they’ve had the response for a week already. EAD still says fingerprint review completed. We are at 6 months now...but green card interview is in two weeks so I’m thinking we just leave it!?

If I were you I would just leave it. Maybe they're not going to process the ead because you have the interview in 2 weeks. So happy he was able to come back with no issues!

Is that standard procedure? If so, that might explain my issue. Dates in chronological order:

12/28/2018-Submitted I-765 with I-131 for free EAD/AP renewal

05/13/2019-Went to I-485 interview. "Your case is being held for review."

05/23/2019-Date of I-485 RFE

06/04/2019-Expiration date listed on initial EAD/AP (EAD part automatically extended till 12/01/2019)

06/13/2019-Local field office received my RFE response (according to USPS). Online case status doesn't reflect that; online case status still says "we scheduled your interview."

08/02/2019-I called USCIS about the pending I-765 and I-131 being out of processing time. They submitted a service request; officer still hasn't been assigned to the service request.

09/09/2019-I called USCIS again about the pending I-765 and I-131. They submitted a 2nd service request.

09/10/2019-I submitted a request for case assistance to the Ombudsman for the pending I-765 and I-131.

Wait, does it say "case is ready to be scheduled for interview" or "interview scheduled"? They're not the same, the former can be there for many months while the latter is usually followed by an interview letter a week later at most

"On April 4, 2019, we scheduled an interview for your Form I-485." I went to the interview on May 13, 2019. Received "case is being held for review" notice.
