When can i recieved my SSN card?

On the I-765 there was an option to give USCIS permission to forward your SSN request to the SSA. If you selected that option, then hopefully they'll do it; sometimes they don't. Otherwise you go in-person to the SSA without an appointment and submit SS-5: https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf

They'll issue a restricted SSN card:

You should also go to the SSA after you receive the Green Card in order to get an unrestricted SSN card:

After 162 days of waiting, my first real update (if you can call it that): I-485 Ready to be scheduled for interview! My local office is Seattle so I have another 9-25 month wait ahead for that but I'm hoping it means my EAD is on someone's desk right now!!

I am a concurrent I-130 + I-485 filer so that may be why it took so long.

My I-485 is Ready to be scheduled for an interview since April 8th. So yes, there is plenty of waiting time...

It's difficult to say because for some reason the timelines are different for most people. My NOA date is March 14th and have my interview on October 2nd. Although my local office is different, our processing times are 10.5 - 24.5 months. Even with an RFIE, my interview was scheduled very early.

(Day 0) 02/25/19: Mailed AOS Package
(17) 03/14/19: NOA1 (I130, I131, I485)
(24) 03/21/19: Biometrics Notice
(24) 03/21/19: Rejection Notice (I765)
(24) 03/21/19: RFIE (I485)
(35) 04/01/19: Resubmitted I765 Form
(36) 04/02/19: Biometrics Appointment
(60) 04/26/19: NOA1 (I765)
(96) 06/01/19: Submitted RFIE (I485)
(170) 08/14/19: "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" (I485)
(176) 08/20/19: I765 Approved
(182) 08/26/19: EAD card and SS card received
(185) 08/29/19: "Interview was Scheduled " (I485)
(219) 10/02/19: AOS Interview:  "Interview was Completed and My Case Must Be Reviewed"

(220) 10/03/19: I485 Approved

(Day 228) 10/11/19: Permanent Resident card received

It just let me put in a case inquiry!! Thank goodness!!

For anyone who has and has gotten your EAD, how long did it take for them to process after submitting the case inquiry?

It took me 17 days and I also made a request to expedite but never got to submit any evidence.

I did that and was told that there would NOT be another status update until it changed to "Ready to be scheduled for an interview"

Question - I am gathering all documents for our Green Card interview and on the checklist is asks for "Original copy of each and every supporting document that you submitted with your application. Otherwise, we may keep your originals for our records." Are they asking for ANOTHER full copy of our I-485? Or are they saying that they want a copy of the supporting documents from the Interview Checklist?

With the original documents I sent, as well as the RFIE and supporting documents, they should have all they need right? Where does this stuff disappear to?

Im so tired of this sh*t, how they can think that it’s normal that’s someone wait that long without working, even the processing time they do not respect it, I know 100 % that I put my birth certificate with a good translation, they still send me an RFE, and this happens to a lot of people, honestly I’m losing hope, I miss my mom a lot in France, what they do it’s not fair, so because we have an RFE we can’t make an inquiry?

And Ready to be scheduled for an Interview, how long it’s take? It is for the green card ? Or for the work and travel, I’m lost

Honestly i see people who are waiting so long, that a shame, courage to everyone

My wife is an early March EAD filer and we are still waiting for approvals for her I-131 and I-765 as well, so you are not alone in this grueling waiting game.   It is difficult seeing others who filed after to not only have received their EAD card, but their green card as well, while we sit and check the mailbox every day looking for only the EAD card.

To answer your question above, you will only need to attend an interview prior to receiving approval for your green card.  The EAD card (permission to travel and/or work) does not require an interview.   When you can expect to be scheduled for an interview is partly dependent on your "local" field office that your case will be assigned to.    As an example, my wife's I-485 (application for AOS/Green Card) changed to "Ready to be Scheduled" about a month ago.  But being we are assigned to the San Francisco office, we expect to wait another 12 to 18 months to be scheduled.

In the mean time, if you have not done so already, you can submit a case injury via phone or web for your I-131 and/or I-765.   It seems debatable if doing so will do any good, but it is about all you can do.   I did and am crossing my fingers we will get the approvals very soon.

If you are not already aware, you can check the "offical" processing times here: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/,  but take them for what they are worth, because they are, for many of us, meaningless.  😕

I took a copy of all the documents and also the originals as was requested on the letter. I didn't print the forms again, only the affidavit of support.

The officer only took the proof of bona fide relationship documents (a few printed facebook posts, our rental lease with both our names, a phone bill, my name on my husband's health and life insurance). All the other documents like marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc he said they already have them all in the file but the letter requests them nonetheless in case any was missing from the petion, got lost, or if they wanted to see the original for some reason. He also wanted to see the photo album we took with wedding photos and other photos in our vacation.

Thank you so much for all of this information! It makes me feel a lot better, and now I can focus on putting it all together! I hope you guys enjoy the rest of your weekend!
