Ive now setup my informed delivery on USPS.  Its free but they have to validate your address.  If the address for your mobile number matches your address they can do it instantly. But in my case it doesn't so they had to send me an invitation code in the mail, which took 4 days to arrive.

During setup, when the website first took me to the "by mail" validation, it crashed so I had to fiddle about a bit to get them to mail me the code.   It seems to me that lots of USA IT is older 1st generation - and thus a little primitive/flaky compared to the European sites I am familiar with.

first met late 2016, met 13 more times since. Filed i-129 Apr 14th. NOA2 dated Oct 11th.

Were you in the USA when the insurance marketplace first went live!? That was an astounding disaster of epic proportions!

Does usps forward letters from uscis?? We're moving in a week and I DO NOT want to mess anything up by changing it in case by some miracle uscis approves my EAD next week! Also would there be any reasons why they would deny an ead filed with an i485? 🤔 Im so nervous and stressed I'm thinking of all the scenarios here! 😭

From what I heard it is very hit and miss. Also the "red" USPS envelopes that contain actual cards are specifically NOT suppose to be forwarded. https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-begin-using-more-secure-mail-delivery-service

So maybe I should just change it now, no one lives in the house yet and I doubt the card would come in the mail by next week... Although I know the people moving into our apartment so I can ask them to keep an eye out. Doesn't seem like signatures are required yet.

Uscis will update your address in 30 days in the system 😭 and as far as I know usps don’t forward the Uscis letter...

do you know well your neighbors? You should ask them to let the new renters know if they get something to that address for your name to contact you. Or you can ask the new renters by yourself.

Okay, I do know the people who are moving in... I will def ask them to keep an eye out bc with my luck, it'll definitely get lost!

Once your EAD has been approved, you can actually log in to e-verify self check (https://www.e-verify.gov/mye-verify/self-check) using your USCIS account. You enter your passport number, social, and answer some identity verification questions. It then confirms against DHS records whether you will pass an employee's e-verify screening. Mine came back as authorized to work the next day after I was approved! :D

Once you are employed, you can then actually lock your SSN to prevent anyone else from using your social to apply for jobs.

Hi! You mean your SSN card was changed? Did they send it to you?

Ah thanks for the tip I've done the same thing. Anything to add a little bit of reliability to this super shaky system!

For my husband's EAD, as soon as his filing date showed up, we submitted an inquiry. The date we'd get a reply by that was mentioned in the confirmation e-mail passed a couple of days ago. What next? Should we call?

Thanks

When did you send the service request, and what date does it say in the email? USCIS gives themselves 30 days to respond, but for some reason the date they say in the email isn't 30 days. E.g. my service request was sent on July 31st with an expected reply date of August 22nd, but on the phone 2 weeks ago they said wait until August 30th. We've passed the 22nd, and it's been more than 60 days since they received my response to their RFE, so I'm gonna phone tomorrow. Not expecting anything to come of it though and I'll probably just be told to wait til Friday 30th again.

11/12/2017 - Entered US on J1
10/18/2018 - Filed AOS at NBC
12/11/2018 - Biometrics
02/28/2019 - USCIS mailed RFIE on I485
05/09/2019 - USCIS received RFIE response
06/11/2019 - USCIS mailed another RFIE on I485
06/19/2019 - USCIS received 2nd RFIE response
07/24/2019 - I485 ready to schedule for interview
01/22/2020 - I485 interview (in San Jose instead of San Francisco)

We sent the request during the first week of August. So 30 days haven't passed yet.

Well if it's passed what it said in the email, you can try calling them and asking for a tier 2, but I don't know if it'll do anything. They'll likely just say wait 30 days, despite the online system lying to us.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I called the day after the date in my email (but before 30 days), talked to a tier 2, and all they said was they hadn't responded to my service request yet... which I obviously already knew. I guess I'll call at 30 days just because I don't have anything else to do but I don't expect anything useful.

Question of the day.

Those of you who already has SSN (even if you came with K1) how long does it take to mail it?

I went back to the SS office this morning because I've got my EAD. (However, I shouldn't go to the office because when I applied to the EAD I marked that area to apply for an SSN as well). So it's been 14 days my EAD got approved and still no sign of SSN. The lady on Friday and this morning also told me that my name is not in the Social Security system. Today she also said I should wait to apply for an SSN another week because "MAYBE" the USCIS didn't let the Social Security know about my SSN (she said it happens lot of times) and if I apply for an SSN now and the USCIS also did (or will do this week) that could mess up my Social Security. The lady said I should've already got my SSN because it's been 14 days but sometimes it takes up to 3 weeks to delivery the SSN card.

So how long did it take to you to receive the SSN card?
