It's supposed to be up to 60 days. Mine took 35~ days after them receiving the response to go to "ready to schedule for interview", and I'm now at 65 days after the RFE but still haven't heard about my EAD.

Oh ok. If you don’t mind me asking you, why did you get an rfie for?

Where did you find out the waiting is supposed to be 60 days?

Thank you for your help :)

Hey everyone, USCIS received my response to a rfie 45 days ago and yet no answer. Do they have a limit of days to get back to me?

An officer told me yesterday 60 days to hear back from them regarding RFIE.

Our journey so far:🙂

03 /12/19- Sent I-130, I-485, I-131 & I-765 (via USPS)
03/14/19 - Arrived at Chicago lock box
03/19/19- NOA1 via text (all petitions NBC)
03/22/19- Biometrics notice
03/25/19 - NOA1 via mail for AOSEAD & AP
03/30/19- NOA1 for scheduled biometrics appointment (via mail)

We had one in February, responded in May. That was about getting a joint sponsor, and proof in not subject to the 2 year home rule of the J1. Then we had another in June that was for proof of citizenship of our joint sponsor - that one only took 2 days to handle.

I got 60 days from here: https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayONPTForm.do?entryPoint=init&sroPageType=onpt

NOTE: We are actively processing your case if, in the past 60 days, you:

  • Received a notice from us about your case,
  • Responded to a request for evidence, OR
  • Received an online update to your case status.

That means you can't sent a service request within 60 days of the RFE, though in my case cause it went ready to schedule for interview and I didn't hear about the EAD within a week after that we were able to send one.

11/12/2017 - Entered US on J1
10/18/2018 - Filed AOS at NBC
12/11/2018 - Biometrics
02/28/2019 - USCIS mailed RFIE on I485
05/09/2019 - USCIS received RFIE response
06/11/2019 - USCIS mailed another RFIE on I485
06/19/2019 - USCIS received 2nd RFIE response
07/24/2019 - I485 ready to schedule for interview
01/22/2020 - I485 interview (in San Jose instead of San Francisco)

My service request was also sent on July 31st with an expected reply date of August 22nd, but I've also heard nothing, and I'm an October filer.

Did you file last October and since then still no EAD or interview for you?? That’s just wow!!!! I’m so sorry!!! What’s your field office?

Yep, 309 days now. Our field office is San Francisco with a 17.5-24 month wait, so I'm not expecting that anytime soon.

I just read your RFE issues. I know a girl her field office is SF too. They had a joint sponsor issue too and she had her interview after 27!!! months of waiting!! Even the Officer was surprised on the interview why her case took soooooo long...

Omg five hours!? That’s the most I’ve heard. In theory, yes, it works but so many people say they never got a call back. But I wouldn’t call back now. I don’t think that will help. That seriously sucks for you. I’m so sorry :(

They did actually call me back with absolutely no useful information. Wait. Maybe something will happen in 30 days. Maybe it won't.

I had submitted a case enquiry, but am now back within normal processing times. Goodness only knows what happens at USCIS, I’ll just continue my waiting game.

I called at 8 am eastern time this morning, which is 5 am here in California. I put in a service request because my receipt date is 03/25 and the receipt date for inquiry was 03/26. The lady put in the service request and I got the number. It even shows in my uscis account (just not assigned yet). She said I should hear something within 30 days. And now the dates changed back to 03/12.

I also wonder what’s gonna happen to my request. I’m really tired of waiting

03/30/18: Packet sent

04/02/18: NOA1

10/04/18: NOA2

We have the same timeline. I rang today and she told me my case will still be under the normal processing time till the 9th of September! Uscis has been tormenting me!

I will keep my fingers crossed that we both get something through soon 🤞🏻 . It definitely feels like USCIS are toying with us a bit.

Guess they starting to get overwhelmed by inquiries from people with received date right at the 5 months mark.

Probably.  Some manager said lets revise the date backwards to stop people making service requests.  But they shouldn't have advanced it in the first place, giving us false hope.   GRRR,

first met late 2016, met 13 more times since. Filed i-129 Apr 14th. NOA2 dated Oct 11th.
