It seems like everyone is asked for their health insurance at the interview.

I don't have my EAD yet, therefore no SSN so I couldn't get health insurance. Will this be an issue at all?

They asked if I had one but I never showed it or anything because it wasn't the same as my husband's. As long as you show some joint bills you will be fine

Well not everyone. I don’t have mine too my husband couldn’t add me on his. The only form of insurance we have together is his life insurance (which I’m a beneficiary). We have very few documents, other docs are: internet/ cable bill, bank statement, pictures from wedding and other occasions, affidavit of residence from landlord, affidavit of knowledge to our marriage from his dad and 2 of our friends, mails in both of our names, his paystubs reflecting our address,  Sams club membership, receipts from movie dates, receipts of things ordered to my home  That’s all we have.

Hi, sorry if this has been answered before but this whole process is so confusing and I'm a little overwhelmed.

I filed March 29th, had my biometrics mid-April and then received an RFE on June 26th stating that I needed to send my birth certificate (pretty sure I sent it but w/e).

I just got back 2 days ago from a visit home to the UK for my grandads funeral, I traveled on an Emergency Advanced Parole that I acquired after multiple calls/visits to the local USCIS field office, which was an entire ordeal on it's own but that's a whole different story.

Anyway, my regular Advanced Parole that I filed for with my AOS just got approved today which is great, however my EAD is still stuck on 'On March 29, 2019, we received your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization...'

I thought this was a 2-in-one so to speak, should they be approved together or is it normal for one to take longer than the other? Does it have something to do with the fact that I just traveled on the Emergency Advanced Parole? Should I expect to receive an approval for the EAD soon too? I'm getting restless and want to start looking for work to do something useful with my time. Hoping somebody else has had a similar experience.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry to hear about your granddad! Typically, when you file for EAD and AP concurrently, they both get approved at the same time but often only one of the statuses gets updated. However, it's typically the EAD status that updates to new card is being produced, while the AP one remains on case received. Maybe because you applied for the emergency AP, they went ahead and approved the regular one? Unfortunately, I don't think you'll be able to tell if both applications have been approved until you get the hard copy approval notice in the mail (you'll get two separate envelopes, one for EAD and one for AP if that's the case). Mine came 4 business days after the online status change. I hope they were both approved and you get your combo card soon!!

Hello,

We filed our AOS (marriage-based) on March 28th and were super happy that we got an interview date for July 2nd. The interview itself went ok and we had a lawyer present for it. This was at the Detroit field office.

We answered 2 questions incorrectly - I accidentally said "Apt 1" instead of "Apt XXX" for my address because I was nervous and we both answered with the wrong wedding date. (We gave the date our license was issued, not the date of the actual wedding). We also did not know each other's parents' birthday. The officer seemed to laugh at the mistakes and was friendly and understanding that we messed up. We also had considerable evidence like photos, join bank account, joint credit card, joint purchase of a vehicle etc.

At the end of the interview, the officer said that since I hadn't submitted my medical at the time of filing (I brought it to the interview) she needed to open it and review it later. She gave us a document saying our case was under review and that they did not need anything else from us. She even said that we were her last case for the day and she was glad that it was an easy case. She said she probably wouldn't need anything from us and that we were good to go.

It has been ~21 days and my status online has not changed from "Your interview was scheduled". We tried calling USCIS but they said we had to wait until our case was outside normal processing times (which for us will be August 2020) before making an inquiry.

We are starting to get really worried and anxious. Does anyone know if this is normal? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Does anyone know of a way we can get USCIS to give us an update?

Thank you for taking the time to read this and help!

My case changed to this today - does anyone have any clue?? I requested to expedite my EAD 5 days ago I don’t know if this has anything to do with it? Has anyone else received a notice like this before?

Will do for sure!

I hope it goes as well for us; we had to get a co-sponsor because my wife was a student until a few months before we got married, and then she was in hospital with emergency surgery and off work for a while. I hope we get on the spot approval as well :)

We will most likely be going to Luna to celebrate after haha

I'm sure you guys will do fine, a co-sponsor is suuuuuper normal from my understanding, so it shouldn't slow anything down :) good luck tomorrow, not that you'll need it! Luna's delicious, so def a good choice there! And we just got his green card in the mail today, so Detroit's super duper quick on that front too.

I did try and call them. They just said that my application is still within normal processing times and that I cannot make an inquiry until it has passed that.

Ask for Tier2 when you reach a real person. The Tier1 will tell you that you are still in normal processing time. They are useless. Ask to transfer to Tier2 representative they'll help you.
