I am glad you managed to get it, and it is good to know it is indeed an option!

Yes, that is exactly how it felt! :D Can't wait to be done and have a break from this for 2 years

That is awesome news and Im glad you had such a positive experience! This only goes to show that sometimes it truly is a matter of just calling and calling until you get lucky enough to talk to the right person. If only they wouldn't put you on hold for such a ridiculous amount of time though. They really ought to train all of the officers the same way, to avoid problems/inconsistencies like this

Thank you guys! :)

Legally she won't be able to work until either her EAD (form I-765) or Green Card (form I-485) get approved, whichever comes first.

You want to bookmark this thread for other June AOS filers. Good luck!

hi everyone,

can you renew your driver license while you wait for your aos, ead and so on?

Renew? As in you had it before? Or you mean foreign one? In some states it is possible to get driver license while on K-1 before EAD. It is a bit of a challenge usually.

It depends on if your state will accept your AOS NOA as proof of legal presence. I was able to do it in VA with no issues (just had to wait like an extra hour at the DMV for them to verify my NOA). Check your state's online DMV page for a list of acceptable documents. Might also be worth it to call ahead to your specific DMV to double check and give them a heads up as it is not a common situation and some employees might not be aware of the fact that you can use your NOA.

Man, on Jun 16 it will be 60 days since they received the response to my RFIE and I can call again. Nothing has happened and it seems like nothing is moving forward. Chicago seems to be slow. :(

I was able to get my licence but it was only good until my I-94 expired.  So now I have an expired North Carolina licence.

are you able to renew it since you have submitted your forms?

@Hirotoyoto as I said above, I was able to renew it in VA. It looks like GA also allows you to renew it with a valid NOA1 to prove your legal presence https://online.dds.ga.gov/SecureID/accepteddocs.aspx Good luck :)

Usually 10-14 days, though recently there are reports of some folks form going into lockbox limbo for a month.

Yup! Most people get it within 1-2 weeks assuming all forms and fees have been filed correctly. You might also wanna give your local DMV a call just to make sure of the exact docs you need to bring
