I filed in June 12/2018. It has been 9 months. I was just wondering if everything is ok as they have not changed the case status.

"Normal" depends on the local office.
Sometimes, keep in mind the websites/case status apps don't update appropriately/ never at all.

It's possible they have everything they need but they can't move you to the next step because your local office (which we don't know) is backed up. (create a timeline, it will help us help you better down the road)

If you're worried, call USCIS and just CONFIRM they have all the documents they need.

I think it's more likely that they have it- but since they can't do anything with it right now, it's just sitting there until your local office is ready.

Got it. I will do the timeline update. I filed with the office in Philadelphia. Currently they have 13-22 months timeline to process the cases. My only concern is that I only have a 1 year EAD, due in Oct this year. When should be the best time to get a new one? Do I need to do something before it expires or should I wait until it expires to apply for an extension?

Thanks for the help!

You can start applying to renew your EAD 6 months before it expires to be safe, so if by May 1st you have no news from them, I would send in the renewal form I-765 and make sure to include a copy of your I-485 receipt to show that it is still pending and the fee waived.

Once they send you back a new receipt for the EAD renewal, the receipt gives you an automatic 6 month extension after the current one you have expires.

Hopefully you get approved before all that.

Good luck

Hey, I am not sure if your case got updated but this isn't normal and you should call an inquiry about the case. I had the same issue and called and a few days later they changed the case to ready to be scheduled for an interview. I am not sure if they put the case in the queue since this status change or before but it's good to inquire about it.
