yea my wife has a hybrid and doesn't suffer a lot.. compared to the 'oh im so cool and I buy a fukcin Yukon or a Denali' and spend 100 dollars a week.. LOL and PWNED!

when will americans start appreciating fuel efficient cars, rather than those behemots.. that only use the gas that future generations can use

A lot of us appreciate buying a fine, reliable automobile of our choice. I love both of my Toyota Sequoias. I don't know if that falls into your category of "fukcin behemoth Yukons and Denali's" since it is a SUV. But I certainly can afford the gas for them. That's why I don't b!tch about gas prices. ;)

toyotas ain't bad.. and na.. a Yukon or Denali ain't no SUV's.. they are "Hey I'm wasting gas in a cool way" category

That's is what I heard adults saying that about people who drove the old Cadillacs when I was growing up.

We just bought a car that does 34 miles per gallon. Compared to our truck that does 20 mpg it's a blessing.

Well, Larry is into Jap cars, Lisa into German, and I don't do foreign :P

But he bought the Totota because it was the only one actually made in the USA (okay, and it WAS his dream truck... ). Our "new" (hahahah!) car is a Ford. I've called it Beryl.:)

I remember the attempts at price controls back in the 70's. It resulted in long lines and only being able to buy gas every other day. I don't think that is the way to go. I am slowly coming into the anti-big oil camp as I do my own research. From what I see the big problem is refinery capacity. It's a combination of enviromental rules that make it hard to build a new refinery (government and the tree huggers fault) and the lack of willingness of big oil to expand the plants they already have to keep the price up (big oils fault).

I agree that we need to stop any deals with the oil companies. But we also need to relax the enviromental rules to allow more refining capacity. We have the ability to build refineries without the pollution. After that we need to hold the oil companies feet to the fire to encourage them to build more refineries. At the same time we also need to fully fund a plan to get us off of our addiction to oil. IMO hydrogen is the way out.
