I’m a female American citizen who was married in Lagos, Nigeria. I brought the marriage certificate back with me to the states because I would need it for the I-130 and for the DMV, Dept of State, Social Security Dept, and my employer to change my name. I asked the official in Nigeria to provide me with 2 of them but he insisted it wasn’t going to be necessary.

 

Now my husband needs the original for his interview. 

 

He he has a certified copy of the marriage certificate. 

 

Will that hat be accepted at the embassy for his visa interview?

Yes the certified will be fine.
