K-2 medical exam Canada

Hello,

I just have a question about the medical exam for k-1 and k-2 visa in Canada (will be going to Surrey BC for exam). My 7 year old was born with a heart defect but had it repaired at birth and has never had a problem since (goes for yearly echos and cardiology appointment). He also had benign epilepsy that he had since grown out of, neurology cleared him with MRI and he takes no medication for anything now. He is a very healthy and active young boy. Would this affect his medical exam?

Hi,

My son has special needs so I was concerned about the medical too. We were from England but the requirements are the same as the panel physicians follow US guidelines.

For the medical examination I took his brief medical history from our family doctor, recent reports from specialists, a letter from our family doctor briefly outlining his current health profile and a letter from school confirming that he is well-behaved and never harms himself or others (I only did this because people with his condition can have tendencies for poor emotional regulation). My husband (now, fiance then) sent me the relevant section showing that his health insurance policy would cover us once in the US.

The main concerns are that a prospective immigrant will not be a risk of harm to himself or others, has communicable diseases or will become a public charge. From what you've said it sounds like you will be fine. Be upfront about his medical history and offer proof of his health is good now.

I also called ahead of our appointment to request extra time for the doctor to go over our notes as we had more than average.
