Hello All,

NEED HELP! We're trying to bring my mother over to US from Cebu, Philippines and have a couple questions.

We began the process of the IR5 Visa in May'18, and just recently we received an OK in the last week from NVC to start working on the paperwork. However, now in process of submitting the I864 we learned that, since she lived in Japan before, she needs to submit a Police Clearance. This looks to be a bit of a painful process...

1. Does anyone know if we can get the Police Certificate from the local Japan Embassy in Cebu? If not, is it possible to do so in Manila?

2. We read in Visa Journey that it may take 1-3 months to obtain the Police Certificate from the Embassy, does anyone know if there is a year-long limit for these IR5 Visa applications to be completed?

3. We haven't submitted the DS-260 as of yet (still working on the docs) but after NVC has approved this form, do we submit the documents afterward? We are trying to get the docs now, including the Police Certificate, but worried about how long it will take as we are trying to submit the DS-260 as soon as possible.

Thank you everyone!
