If this is wrong area sorry :) wasn't sure where to post this..

Question on booking the flight for my fiancee to come to the US.  Should I book the flight for her when we got the visa in hand and know 100% its approved, or should I send the money to her after the visa is approved and have her do it from her end? Not really sure what people do in this case as we are very close to finishing.

Do NOT book the flight before the visa is in hand. It happened more then once that people had to cancel / reschedule their flight cause AP took longer then expected. You are 100% approved when the visa is in hand, not when the officer says you're approved.

Once she has the visa in hand you or her can book the flight, doesn't matter who books it.

I know that is why I said I wasn't booking the flight until we are 100% sure and have the visa in her passport. :) Just wanted to see what way was better

Question is do you think she would get overexcited and accidentally rush ahead and book it ASAP if you sent the cash 😊

Seriously though it doesn’t matter if you or she books it. I would go with whichever way is cheaper - I’ve had it cheaper booking from a us site rather than the originating country for the flight site of the same airline.

Though considering Aeroflot's markup for a one-way refundable ticket is pretty trivial over a one-way with a 2nd checked bag, I'm kind of kicking myself for not having bought a ticket yet (Anastasia's been stuck in non-immigrant application received all week, and the fare from Moscow to LA on the day she planned to come has gone up $130 since then ...).

I'm in Moscow as I write this. Medical Tue 20th and interview Tue the 26th. I bought her over a month and a half ago. She has the seat next to mine. I always fly Aeroflot from LAX.  My return and her ticket are Flex. Change date no charge, and return ticket for full refund if worse case scenario. You can get a much better rate if you book further out as anywhere or airlines (there are sometimes exceptions) So, for me this works. I've been using my Delta Sky Miles Card (also get a free checked bag) for everything, Mobile, cable, gas, car ins everything I buy. Each Sunday I go through all the charges I made that week and make a payment like I had been using my debit card so never have a big bill to pay.

This will not work for everybody, however there might be a couple of things you might find handy.

Best to all and may you have Visa in hand soon.
