SO in america when packet 3 sent to uk address

Okay i need some help. I'm the petitioner and my SO is here until July 7th. Our NOA2 is dated may 7th, NVC has already sent the packet to London as of yesterday and I'm a little concerned about packet 3 getting to his house prior to him getting back to england. It may be there in a couple of weeks but he can't do any of the paperwork because he's here. What forms will he get and is it possible to get things done over here before he goes back? Does anyone think it would be worth it to get his mom to send the packet over here when it comes? Just need to know where to go from now....somebody help

Have someone there mail you the packet. There are some (most) forms that you can and in fact are requested to print out from online that will be returned, but there is the checklist which you need from them to sign and return and there will be medical documents for the medical interview as well. He can fill out and mail back forms from the US, that's not a problem. You can call and schedule the medical from here as well - just a phone call.

(our packet 3 was supposedly mailed from London on 5/20, but there's no sign of it yet, FYI).

You have to send the checklist in the moment you are ready with all the documents for the interview.....if you are not in a rush you can take your time....i don't know how much time you have to respond the embassy ?????????

I think the only possible "deadline" issue you could face is the lifespan of the NOA2, but in the worst case, it seems from reading here that all that is needed to extend its life (if, in fact, the embassy would boot you for a problem there at all) is an email to them saying you still intend to marry. I just read a thread on that - but can't remember if it was in this forum or in the UK subforum).

I've seen in other threads and plan on us sending back the forms and the checklist together (rather than separate, which is also allowable). But we're on top of the checklist. Only excpetion: we don't have the police cert in hand yet. It is ordered, however, and expected soon. We'll still send it all in together. Everything else is in order.

None of that needs to wait just because the postmark would be USA instead of UK, as far as I can figure. Will take slightly longer in the post, perhaps, but London seems to be running about 4-6 weeks on interview times anyway, so why not let that waiting time pass while you're together in the US?!

Mark was here in the states when he received his packet 3 back in November. His parents scanned and emailed him all the forms and he filled them out and mailed them from here. He returned to the UK in April and sent in his checklist when he was ready. He got packet 4 in the mail ten days later. It all went fairly smoothly.

Did he get his police certificate ordered and sent to him while here in the US too? I'm hoping we can do that since that seems to take longer than anything else. Thanks for the reply, we haven't hit any snags yet so I'm trying to be careful and do this the best I can....

He did. I believe his mother mailed that out for him a month or two before he returned to the UK. It arrived there in plenty of time to be waiting for him in April. I think they told him that the processing time for it was like 40 days. Your fiance will want to check that out beforehand, of course, to make sure he's sending for it in plenty of time.
