The Tel Aviv site says that there is no more DCF, if there was we would do it when i was there 2 weeks ago.

No more DCF? Ok, I didn't know that.

And we called the embassy and they said it takes about 10 business days maximum to get your passport, so it is not issued on the spot.

Oh yeah, they'll mail it to you. It shouldn't take 10 days.

My first tick to the UK was refundable. It was around $600. There are req's for qualifying though...I got very sick, but I had to produce a DRs siggy as to why.

The refund took MONTHS long...longer than I was sick. I kept asking them just let me pay for a 'change fee' and give me a new date. It was a complete clusterfluff and lots of transferred calls and unanswered emails and 'oh that person was wrong' etc....it was completely ridiculous. And I kept telling the co 'it will cost you less to just let me pay the fee and just get me another tick' cos in actuality, the refundable bit is covered by a third party insurance co.

What they did was, they refunded my ticket price. At that point, tickets were going for $900.

I wound up buying a new tick on a different airline. Wrote a V nasty email to BA with a copy of my $1000 ticket from Virgin (lol), and bout a YEAR later, they sent me a voucher for $300 with an apol.

I used that voucher to buy another tick later on, and that wound up being a clusterfluff too. We wound up paying 350 quid to Virgin to get me home on the outbound journey on a return UK tick. The other part, I never used!

You don't sound predjudiced at all. That is just the way things are. If it's only gonna cost you $50 to change the flight I would go ahead and buy it. I would, however, give a week or two between the interview and the flight.
If you look at VJ as a whole, the majority don't have long AR/AP. Although Israel is in the Mid East, her fiance isn't Arab or Muslim so that does make a difference.

I don't think buying the tickets would be necessarily jinxing it. Would they charge you the $100 if you change the flight? If you could save a few hundred bucks then I'd go for it.

You are absolutely right. :)

Anything can happen and he can go on AR/AP but just like it's being mentioned he's not a Muslim or Arab and that's why it may be different. I don't mean to sound prejudice but I just don't think he stands a high chance of name check.

I just came back from ISrael and few people on the plane told me that it took them about 5 days to get their passport back. So I guess there was no AR/AP.

If we want to change the flight it's $50

To cancel it it's only $100

I can buy the same ticket for $550 BUT that price does not include cancelation fee.

Yeah, we're giving 16 days between the interview and the flight.

We're overpaying $150 extra as it is because for that price you can cancel it for an extra $100

So instead of $550 we're paying $700

But i just know that later there either won't be any more ( direct) flights or the prices will be good $300-400 more.

Summer ticket prices are horrible! If it's only going to end up costing you 50-100 extra to change or cancel, and it would cost you more (as gas prices go up and the tourist season goes into full swing), I would chance it, especially if your financial situation is tight. I know in the difference of two weeks, my hubby and sons ticket prices went up about 200$ each - that may not be a lot to some people, but like I said, it was only a difference between may 4th and may 18th.

We took a chance and bought the tickets.

We have 16 days between the interview and the flight. Hoping we did the right thing :)
