Business income is business income. For some people, that's all they have. Neither the IRS, USCIS or DOS suspects people are overstating their income on their tax returns for the purpose of fraudulently paying additional taxes.

Self employed people are asked to provide three years of tax returns. Tax transcripts are preferred, easily obtainable and free.

Any income whether business or salary or capital gains is income so long as you have declared it and paid taxes on it.

boing,

Form 1040 line 22. Non-taxable income can also be considered if it is ongoing and is documented.
