Non English Speaking Parent at Customs

Hi everyone,

 

 I could not find an answer on this so I decided to ask...

 

My mother who speaks 0 English is supposed to arrive in the next 48 hours. I wonder how things go in these situations? Anyone has any experience? I know that they take fingerprints and all that as well as ask questions about the trip. I am a bit worried.

 

I did write a letter for her in English with basic info about her trip and my contact information to hand it to the officer when she arrives.

 

any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

CBP can get non-english speakers translated if need be. Assuming the mom speaks georgian/russian, shouldn't be a huge issue. Perhaps she could have someone on her flight assist her with US Customs forms.

She speaks both Georgian and Russian. 

 

I highly doubt there will be any Georgians on her flight. Maybe Russians but chance of finding them on a plane is almost none. 

 

Do CPB-s always get a translator or sometimes fingerprints and a letter is enough?

I also wrote a letter for my parents when they came with the purpose of the visit, period, address and if they have further questions to call me as I was waiting in the arrivals. 

I did this three times. Every single time, they read the letter and stamped the passport.
