God Save the Queen or Rule Britannia!

I'm preparing for my future home...

Actually, I think most are corny, but that's ok, corn is good sometimes and I'd say America the Beautiful. I like the imagery of spacious skies, amber waves of grain, and purple mountain majesties...from sea to shining sea.

This one gives me chills...

Toby Keith › Courtesy of The Red, White & Blue

American girls and american guys

We¡¯ll always stand up and salute

We¡¯ll always recognize

When we see old glory flying

There¡¯s a lot of men dead

So we can sleep in peace at night

When we lay down our head

My daddy served in the army

Where he lost his right eye

But he flew a flag out in our yard

Until the day that he died

He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me

To grow up and live happy

In the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love

Has fallen under attack

A mighty sucker punch came flyin¡¯ in

From somewhere in the back

Soon as we could see clearly

Through our big black eye

Man, we lit up your world

Like the 4th of july

Hey uncle sam

Put your name at the top of his list

And the statue of liberty

Started shakin¡¯ her fist

And the eagle will fly

Man, it¡¯s gonna be hell

When you hear mother freedom

Start ringin¡¯ her bell

And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you

Brought to you courtesy of the red white and blue

Justice will be served

And the battle will rage

This big dog will fight

When you rattle his cage

And you¡¯ll be sorry that you messed with

The u.s. of a.

’cause we’ll put a boot in your ###

It’s the american way

Hey uncle sam

Put your name at the top of his list

And the statue of liberty

Started shakin¡¯ her fist

And the eagle will fly

Man, it¡¯s gonna be hell

When you hear mother freedom

Start ringin¡¯ her bell

And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you

Brought to you courtesy of the red white and blue

The star spangled banner -- i love the fact it is sung to the tune of an old english drinking song and no one can sing it.

I would also nominate This Land Is Your Land by Woody Guthrie -- I know it's generally meant to ironic amd kind of the antithesis of these songs, but I like it.

God Save the Queen is such as ###### national anthem, it sounds like a dirge.

Nice song, adaptable to any country. If you ask me the lyrics, I'll just post the Canuck ones. :D

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I know! It must be so disheartening to most English people especially when France's is so much better -- can you imagine Victor Lazlo trying to drown out the Germans singing at Ricks Cafe with God Save the King?

Our national anthem should be changed to Land Of Hope and Glory....it is much more inspiring than God Save the Queen....

I have never understood why they made the US national anthem the Star Spangled Banner (strangled banner...) when America the Beautiful is so much nicer and more singable... of course I don't know when it was written so maybe it wasn't around then?
