Its my understanding that once such a letter is sent through the mail or there are potential extortion or threats sent containing a powder the FBI gets involved. FOX had turned such evidence over to the FBI originally and they had been working the case since it started with the letters. They had previously cautioned the CPD to stop making such claims as to the author of the letter as it had never been proven or established as fact. Recall a recent article about this..

Also I know the assistant state attorney is trying to save face by saying they dropped charges because they think it isn't really worth it to continue and that Jussie did community service as penance .... BUT there is no evidence to suggest Jussie did community service and this isn't a mere dropping, but complete expungement. If you do community service in exchange for dropping of charges that's a plea deal.. and admitting of guilt, but that isn't happening here at all.

 

Technically as I hear Rahm Emanuel getting angry on TV saying he's still guilty... perhaps they should be careful here.. Jussie could sue I think, or at least try.

It is my understanding that part of the “deal” was that the whole mess would be sealed.  If Smollet sued, wouldn’t that open everything up for scrutiny?

Well when CNN were going on about this I was thinking that was the last thing likely. As if he wants this in a civil court where it is a balance rather than beyond reasonable doubt.

There is such a racial double standard in this country.

 

Imagine a white actor fakes a hate crime against two black guys and paints them with racial sterotypes.( i know blacks cant commit hate crimes). With overwhelming evidence a grand jury indicted him. Then a judge in secret dismissed  all charges and seals all records. 

 

The outrage and total condemnation would be overwhelming.  The justice department would be sending in reps, and if Trump did not speak out within an hour, shouts of Racism would be echoed from coast to coast.

 

Yet he has not even been suspended from the show .

 

Rosanne was fired because she pointed out a lady looked like a monkey.

 

Where is the assualt on the white race going to end?
