Hello guys, I had my interview on January 22, 2019 I  was given 221g Form to provide more means of our bona-fide relationship which is email communication  which I submitted on 1st Friday February 2019 on Friday. My case got up updated on Mon 4th, Tue 5th, Wednesday 6th Feb 2019 but still showing administrative process on Ceac.  They contacted me on 6th Wed February to submit my passport through DHL for visa issuance which I submitted on 7th Thursday the next day . On Friday 8th my case got updated to the date  still showing administrative processing.  Then on Monday 11th it shows APPLICATION RECEIVED non immigrant, that I should check back after 2 business days to check my status if I had already had my interview.  I checked again yesterday got updated to 15th but still showing application received non immigrant.

Pls house what does it mean? Is it a good sign?

Thanks everyone

Can you please fill out your timeline and let us know what embassy you went through? Its hard to help without the proper info.

That said, when you change from immigrant to non immigrant (since you posted in K1 forum I'm assuming you're doing K1) that's a good sign. You'll go through AP (everyone goes through AP) but without knowing which consulate its impossible to know how big the chance is that it's gonna go fast (some consulates/embassies are notorious for very long AP)

It is K1 Nigeria consulate in Lagos.

That consulate is famous for taking long periods of time to finish the visa issuance while you are in AP. We have seen anywhere from 1-4 months. Just have to have patience.

So in general the change from immigrant to non immigrant is a good sign, but as said above Nigeria is notorious for very long AP's and a lot of denials. So in this case the only advice we can give is wait and prepare for possibly a long wait. Good luck

I thought It will be three working business for issuing my visa. On the day of interview 221g was given and my passport was returned to me immediately. Three days after submitting my additional documents, I was contacted to submit my international passport for visa issuance, I was very happy which I did the next day. Checking my status showing application received after submitting the passport is getting me baffled because it was administrative processing before it changed to application received. I was expecting it to change from Ap to issued after submitting my passport..

It takes time and no one can tell you with any certainty when it will arrive. You will go through two AP and your status will change from "immigrant" to "non-immigrant" just before it goes to issue. More patience is needed.

Yes it changed to AP again yesterday and issued today. Have been contacted to pick up at DHL. Yours is coming soon. My case only took 3weeks to be solved after additional requirements for more bona-fide relationship was submitted by me

After 221G we have submitted all the required documents with passport on Feb 16 and the status got changed from "Administrative Processing" to "Application Received" since then. It has been 20 days and there is no update. Just the case date got updated today - but the case status is same. This is so stressful. Not sure what we can do here. Did this happen to you as well? Just the date getting updated without the case status.

Oh ok thanks for the update. Do you know how many days it took for you to change from “Application Received “ to “Issued” status?

No one can say with any certainty when your visa will be issued. Administrative processing is at its most frustrating when it goes on for several months. Typically this is caused by a consular post waiting for a response on some form of advisory opinion. Although, as was experienced in 2014 and 2015, processing delays may also result from system failures in the Consular Consolidated Database (CCD) and more recently due to additional administrative hurdles such as the recent flurry of executive orders regarding visa issuance. We have seen some who have experienced very long delays sometimes beyond a year. But those are rare. I hate to sing the same tune but patience is what is needed.

Just about everyone gets this after their interview.  Based on the discussions I had with the case officer he informed me of these steps:

the first AP is the immigration unit doing the paperwork for approving the visa

the first ready is a notice that they are finished and the paperwork is being sent for visa issuance

the second AP is the visa issuance people doing their own paperwork

the second ready is that the visa has been issued and is currently being processed for delivery

Then "issue" is posted and the visa has left the BIG house to YOUR house.

Once you get that second ready, it should be sent out within a few days, although we received our visa before any of the various websites that allow you to look up the status said that it had been sent out.

So using CEAC this is what you will see just after the interview:

When the Embassy is ready to issue a visa, it will change to "Nonimmigrant Visa Application"; at that time, you will know that you are a few days away from getting the visa. It will go from "Immigrant Visa Application" to "Nonimmigrant Visa Application" status and then your visa changes to "Ready" ==> "Administrative Processing" ==>> "Issued" status as well. These steps sometimes transpire over a day or even a few days. Some smaller Embassy's it happens within hours.

Sometimes, it might skip "Administrative Processing" and go from "Ready" to "Issued".
