"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Hey All

I live in texas im outraged its rediculous . Im also an Aussie and its bad enough at home when they sit across the bridge and wait for you to leave the pub and arest you then lol besides isnt that what the Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificates for staff and establishment laws are for ??

I think its just going to make people drive further to get alcohol to attend different bars and perhaps kill someone on the way home anyway ,either way there will still be people who will drink and drive regardless they are just forcing people to take bigger risks when they drink. Its bad enough most counties are dry and you have to drive 15 miles to get a bottle of beer . Even then there is still death toll from people cracking them open on the way home.. I dont see how it will work

Thats my two cents worth ??

Anyway has the law accually gone through.....

Im also told its agaisnt the law for your passengers to be carrying a bottle of beer with them ????

How stupid LOL

I've reached that realistic age where I have to choose between having fun and a heart attack :)

actually it's called the open container law. And Texas used to not have it. You'd have to ask someone else if it's still legal for the passengers to have open containers in Texas. (Last time I was there it was 1997 and it was legal).

The open container law is designed for what Dean said, you have an open container, then who is drinking it?

Thanks Faith

I had heard that law but wasnt sure thank you for the enlightenment :)

Ok so how long you think that arresting people in a bar will accually last it seems so 18th century .

I have to wonder who makes these laws up?? I wonder if they do it sitting with their mates at the bars getting drunk ....

Ok, first the blue law is gone, you can't have an open container in the passenger compartment, and ###### has already hit the fan over all of the arrests. Seems like the person responsible for setting it up was not held in very high favor by their superiors when all .... broke loose in the papers. They are currently re-evaluating the whole situation. Now just for kicks, it is also still against the law to have a pair of wire cutters in the passenger compartment of your car and in some states if you drive at night, you are required to have someone walk in front of the car carrying a lantern.
