Yet another cat poll

I have no cats. I just visit my brother when I want to pet one. I just don't like how they get cat hair all over the house messy. But they are nice to visit!!

Wow, we scoop every day (Arm & Hammer deodorising litter) but clean out the whole thing...erm...once every month or two... Are you supposed to do it more often?? We've never noticed a stink but maybe we should ask a friend for an objective opinion...!

I don't change mine that often. I recommend anyone with an indoor cat to try Purina Pro Plan indoor formula, this stuff works miracles after a few days. We use it in the kennel where I work and the only time we have odor is when an owner insist on feeding food from home. Got my mother to try it, and she ran out so picked up some other brand from the grocery. She came in a couple of days later and ask for more of the pro plan, and was going to toss the other food out for stray cats, claimed the stink was unbelievable after having used the Purina and going back to off brands.

We tried it. Our little tiny cat lost weight at an alarming rate—from 6.5 to 5.5 lbs! They don't tell you that "Indoor"="Weight Control"!

Both of ours eat Blue Buffalo Spa Select, and my Lord, are they happy, healthy and hyperactive. Our older one (the little one) is 8 years old and you'd think she's a kitten, the way she races around and jumps on things.

Huh? My Scoobster is quite the lil fat arce and has been eating this stuff for a year and a half, 1/2 cup am and 1/2 cup pm. His tummy hangs so low it rubs the hair off between his legs. I guess with a small cat that could be a problem, mines just never been small and likely never will be. I think the last weight check he was around 13 pounds.

We have five cats and 4 large boxes - 3 covered and one uncovered all with high sides. Guess which one they use the most? Yep - the uncovered one. Which do they use the least? The biggest covered one. I scoop them out once or twice a day (the uncovered one twice a day) and clean them thoroughly with bleach once a month.

I use different litters but right now I use SCOOP, Arm and Hammer and Tidy Cat -whichever has the best value/best sale at the time - and all seem to work quite well. Tidy Cat has bigger grains and they seem to get spread around farther while the other two have smaller ones but more of them seem to find their way out of the box. I sweep up around the boxes several times daily, especially the one in the bathroom where we walk with bare feet:-).

I have heard you are supposed to have a box for each cat plus an extra one but even when I had 6 cats we only had 4 boxes and had no problems.
