We have on cat...kinda still a kitten...shes really small so we have a normal sized litter box. I scoop at least once a day...the whole cleaning thing...I would say once a week, but sometimes its a little longer...

I think it's time to clean my litter box.. I voted once a fortenight, but what is that anyway.

Like Frances I use Feline Pine, scoop out the poops, but wash it out with bleach once the pine chips dissolve completely into sawdust.

I like Feline Pine cause it smells so good when it's brand new.

That clumping stuff grosses me out.

We have 4 kitties and 3 litterboxes.. Used to use Feline Pine, but the store I get most of my groceries at doesn't sell it anymore so.. i have switched to just regular clay (more natural..) I generally change it when it starts to smell bad.. But i miss feline pine because even with 4 kitties it took a long time to get stinky...

I've used so many different kinds of litter and never found one that sufficiently covered up the smell so I'm open to suggestions of a good one!

Kajikit - what food do you feed your cats? I'd love to find one to eliminate her smelly poop! I have a small apartment and the litterbox is in a walkin closet and when she poops it smells the whole place up Not a very friendly environment. I've used so much air freshener!!!

If the smell bothers you, we have covered boxes with carbon filters in the top and it really does seem to help. Ours are also fed exclusively on Hills Science Diet and that again seems to create less odor than wet food.

Our vet recommended this excellent product for odour problems. It is manufactured by a company called AnimalCare. There are two products one called 'Odour Elimiator' and another called 'Totalcare.' They are biological stain and odour removers specifically for pet, especially cat related odours and are safe for use on carpets, clothes, walls, furniture, you name it. We got this when my old cat was coming to the end of her life and had occasional urinary and bowel control problems. It really helped and the best thing about it is that it doesn't leave any scent itself. This is particularly good if you have a territorial cat as using a harsh air freshener or cleaning product can actually make them 'Go' more to get their scent back into the house. We bought these products from the vet's office, but you can buy them online if you do a google search. I don't know if they are available from vets in the U.S. but they're so good, I'd buy them online and pay to have them shipped. Believe me we must have tried dozens of products, and these were the two that really worked.

When I had 4 cats .. I found the poo stank more depending on what kind of food you fed them.. Iams was the worst had to change the box too damm much!!

I clean once a day my cat's litter, Charles cleans once a week his it's obvious who'll be the one in charge for the cat litter change after i get there

We have 2 cats. They are almost 8 years old, aprox. 16 lbs each.

Right now we use Arm & Hammer Super Scoop, but we can use any premium clumping litter with the LitterMaid.
