Hi VisaJourners.

I have a situation that I am unsure about...

I am currently living in Orlando, FL and I have my GC interview March 6th.

I am looking to relocate to a different state ASAP. Possibly in the next 2 weeks. Is there a way I can reschedule my interview in a different state? I have tried to research but it just gives me information about letting them know about an address change before I recieve my interview date.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You will change your address online. Legally you have to do it within 10 days of moving.

USCIS will transfer your case to your new LFO.

The interview will be cancelled at your old LFO.

You will wait in line to get a new interview appointment at your new LFO and the wait will be dependent on your new LFO's wait time. Ie you may have to wait a really long time.

What was your old LFO and what will your new one be? You can look up the estimated wait times for both.

Thanks for your reply!

My waiting time time for my GC was 6 months. The only thing that I am scared of is if my GC interview will never come. If there’s a slight possibility of my case getting terminated because I moved when I had a scheduled interview here in Orlando. I don’t mind waiting a little longer because I have had no issues with my EAD, I am just uncertain about how my case will get handled afterwards. Is this something to worry about?

It wont get "terminated". Your application will just get moved to a new LFO and to a new line to wait for an interview.

Hello,

My humble opinion would be to wait and go to the March 6th interview or move and still come back to Orlando for the interview (in the 2nd case it is a gamble I have read that some IO would not proceed with the interview because you are no longer living in the area).

Because after reading multiple posts here on VJ about people that had to reschedule most had bad experiences and had to wait a long time (6 months to a year or even more) to get a new interview.

You can use the search button and read for yourself but I would highly recommend if you do choose to reschedule to not only call but also to book an Infopass to the local office to let them know that you are moving and would like to reschedule your interview. Because there is sometimes miscommunication between the people you talk to on the phone and your local office.

Also the interview being in about 2-3 weeks you do not want to take the chance that your local office doesn't get the message on time and you could be denied for a no show.

Good luck
