I have been waiting since January 31st when the NOS was updated to the list of documents. Very frustrating this long wait. This Thursday it will be 9 weeks waiting.

By the way, mine is a simple home govt funding with NOS.

DOS processing time has been updated some weeks ago i.e. from 6-8 to 12-16 weeks. So your case is within DOS timeline. I hope you get fav decision on your case soon.

I had sent application for waiver and they have received it three weeks back . today I notice that DOS has entered the received date as 02-April-2019 it should have been 11-March-2019. I have the courier tracking and date they encashed my  money order. also I cant see the NO objection certificate sent by my embassy,

The DOS had earlier changed my received date of advisory opinion from 24-Feb to 15-March. At this point in time, I want to comment so many thing but resist doing so... 620568531_advisoryopinon.thumb.JPG.1fcb50bdcc911403fa9b7447139cf087.JPG

Hi Guys,

Finally, DoS made a favorable recommendation for my case.

Now, I have to find another passtime that does not involve checking the J1 waiver website every 2 hours.

I hope you get approvals faster then me!

Keep us posted on how long it will take for USCIS approval! :)

It took 9 weeks? Did you do anything? I see people saying they contacted senators or congressmen.. I don’t know if that helps. It’s crazy how long it takes for this favorable recommendation! Most of us have job offers or expiring J’s..  this process is driving me crazy!

It is crazy. No, I did not contact anyone except for the email that they provide on the website. However, I never got a reply back. I think it does help sometimes to contact these people if you have a urgent/complicated case or an extreme long wait. I have read before in this forum people waiting for periods longer than 8 weeks, even before they changed their estimated time. So 9 weeks it's not really an extraordinary case, it's just the reality of our broken immigration system.

Hi Srinath, This is normal and nothing new to your case. They don't use the same tracking as received from USPS/UPS etc but when they filed them together. Also, NOS receiving date is when processing on your case is started. So these can be changed anytime. No action is needed from your side. Things will be in the system sooner within processing time. Yes, if something is beyond their proposed timeline, you have right to write them directly or involve congressmen etc to expedite the things.

Follow my timeline, I had little bit similar situation in beginning but got recommendation faster at the end.

Wish you all the best with your case!

May be there was a name mistake internally and they fixed error that changed status to 'Name Update'.

So this update shouldn't be of major concern. You are still within USCIS set processing timeline and hope you get your decision letter soon.

First of all, I'd like to thank you for the initiative to create this topic.

I was wondering, based on the reply quoted above, whether you or anyone else know the USCIS processing timeline based on 'no objection' or where to look for it online? I received a 'favourable recommendation' by DOS Friday March 29 and have now reached new levels of restlessness waiting for the waiver to be in my hands.

I wish you all the best of luck!

Hi Jack,

USCIS timeline is very unpredictable. It may take few weeks to months, depends on nature of case. Some people have got decision in couple of days too and others in 3-4 months. On average it is 6-8 weeks, but not an official.

By the way immigration timelines have been reduced from  some recently reported delays little bit, indicating things are improving in my opinion.

Wish the same for your case, and if it is straight (no complications), then USCIS should release decision in 4-8 weeks.

Hi guys,

I've just discovered that my case was approved on march 27th. I'm still waiting for the DOS and first USCIS notice (I'm in Brazil, and it take a weeks to receive any international mail.

My current timeline:

Application packet was sent to DOS by UPS (from Brazil):                              December 16th 2018

Packet received (UPS tracking):                                                                           December 20th 2018

Embassy sent NOS by mail to DOS:                                                                     December 22th 2018

DOS updated status – Documents received:                                                     January 24th 2019

DOS received No Objection Statement on:                                                         January 29th 2019

Favorable Recommendations:                                                                              March 12th 2019

USCIS accepted my case on:                                                                                March 20th 2019

USCIS approved my case on:                                                                                March 27th 2019

By the way, if you are using https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/ website to check your USCIS case status, keep in mind that sometimes it is not being updated correctly. I've just discovered that if you go to my.uscis.gov, create an account and add your case as a paper-filled case, you have access to more recent information.

Good luck to all.
