I didn't receive anything, I called them 1 week later after I got the FR and got the receipt number, I saw my case was approved already.

Have you received your official letter from DOS? My favorable recommendation was sent on May 26 but haven't received anything from DOS yet. Also, did you tell USCIS that you have submitted an I-612? I heard that they are not familiar with no objection based waivers.

Hi All,

Here is my completed timeline:

DOS sent FR to USCIS: April 20

Received a copy of the FR in the mail: In about a week

Never received the 'Case received' from the USCIS and called the USCIS customer service ## after 4 weeks. They're not too familiar with this so try to explain clearly.

The customer rep. managed to find my receipt number so I could check the status online on May 25.

Case approved: May 26

Approval Notice: June 2

Good luck to you all. Be patient..

My timeline:

FR from DOS: May 12th

FR sent to USCIS: May 20th

I got receipt letter from USCIS with case number: May 26th

Case approved: May 29th

Final letter from USCIS: June 3rd

No letters from DOS - I guess it doesn't matter. Maybe postal service is just having a tough time given the current situation.

Thank you for sharing your timeline. I am waiting for a hard copy of my FR so that I can include it in my AOS application. It is interesting that some people receive a copy of their FR from DOS and some do not.

Hello

i would like to know once USCIS approved your cases you can remain in the USA or you still have to leave after your 30 days grace period.

Also is it possible to change to another statut once your case has been approved? Or to leave and apply for another J1 in your home country.

Any possibility to change to green card without a job offer?

Thank you

Which case? Are you talking about the waiver or another USCIS case? For the waiver, it does not grant you any immigration status, and you will still be required to leave the US if you do not have another status.

Congratulations! What's next step for you? Academia or Industry? Premium processing? Wish you will not be doing post doc for whole life (as you nick says)? Congrats again.

How are you? I remember that you had to go back to your country. Are you back in the US?

I took 4 weeks and few days for my case. But that was back in February, the processing could be slowed down now because of the pandemic.
