Hello if some one can give me some insight I will be greatful! I received my letter welcoming me to the usa, when I didn't get my card I checked on the website and it said that it was mail but rejected by someone, and to call them to get it mail again, with all of this now my husband who brough me here is saying that he want a divorce :(

A lot of people is telling me that he can call and cancelled everything, is this true? can he do that? I only have one relative here and to go back home I need to a least work for sometime, but I am now very counfuse, I don't know what to do. If some one has some info and would like to shared their insigh please do so! :help:

They approved your green card (or you would not have gotten the welcome letter) and have registered your PR status. I don't think your husband has any power to cancel it at this point.

Do you think your husband went to the post office and told them to send back mail addressed to you and/or sent the mail back to USCIS stating that you weren't at your address?

Try to find a lawyer, I know some cases like this when a husband put some pressure because the documents and the goverment could protect you. I think the best solution is to talk with a good lawyer. You could win a lot.

Another thing to do right now is to change the address in the USCIS website (AR-11 form online) to try to get your Green Card in your new address. But if you have your Green Card approved will be very hard for your husband to do anything against you right now unless you have less than 2 years of marriage and then He could avoid to help you when your Conditional Green Card expires to eliminate the conditional status.

Thank you again!

Did you come here on a K-1 visa? If yes, your green card will be valid for 2 years, after which time you will have to apply to lift conditions. There are special circumstances for dealing with a conditional green card holder with your circumstances. Take a look at the I-751, it discusses your situation at least a little. I'm sure you'll find other cases on VJ as well.

jsut a fast simple thought.. ... You may wish to contact the postoffice and let them also know you are expecting a important letter.... If they are not aware of your name.. also at the residence.. of course that could have been a reason why the letter was returned.. due to a post officer not knowing you reside there too..

That's true. My card has been sent back because our mailbox did not show any name on it.

Also that is probably why I never received a approval lettter and welcome letter!

I'm rather confused here. You don't know what visa you came here on? You don't know what type of green card you have...or if you have one yet your signature shows a N-400 (application for citizenship) filed on 8/04.

As far as the signature showing the OP came here on an N-400, they said earlier that they were using a freinds computer, so I am assuming that information belongs to the friend. I quoted above. It does seem strange that the OP has started off saying the husband wants a divorce and now she is having dinner with him. Edited by Pauline123
