I129f Question # 54

Hello,

I've been reading through threads on Visa Journey and have been getting mixed messages on whether I should be including how I originally met my fiance. My fianc and I met back in 2012, but the question is asking only about meetings in the last 2 years. Do you guys recommended including how we originally met? If I do this, then I will also probably have to include additional information about the website that we met on and how it isn't an international marriage broker. I'm just wondering what recent applicants are doing?

Thanks!!!

My now husband and I met 4 years before we applied for the K1, we just wrote when and how we met and that we have traveled to see each other since in about 3 or 4 sentences. We got approved without RFE (we sent pictures, passport stamps, tickets and hotel bookings from the 2 years before we applied as evidence)

We did not explain how we originally came to know each other.   We simply listed our meeting dates, and that info was supported with passport stamps and the I-94.

No RFEs or problems at all.

I didn't write anything about how we originally met, as I had interpreted the question as you have, as asking only about meetings within the two years previous to filing.  I filed before finding VJ, and I went with a minimalist approach and sent basically the bare minimum of evidence.  I wrote a very brief statement in the space provided stating when/where we had visited each other within the past two years, and I sent photocopies of the stamps in our passports and about 20 photos of us together over the course of our relationship, including photos from the trips I had noted.

We were approved, and didn't receive an RFE regarding how we first met.

The question is about the first in-person meeting.  Read the questions carefully and literally within the context of the section you are in.  The IMB question gets confused with the meeting question.  They do not care if you met online unless it was an IMB.  They ask you to describe your first meeting in person.  All we said was that we met at the White Moon Bar at Hotel H20 and the date.  We were approved.

Hi, did your hotel bookings show both of your names? Because I have hotel bookings from our travels, but they only have my name on them. Is that okay?

I think it was just in my now husbands name, but it said 2 guests and we provided plane tickets that matched the country of the hotel and the dates that the hotels were booked.

Thanks, that makes sense.
