Hi Divine Mercy,

actually you should have a MSCxxxxxxxxxx number because you filed a K3. It should go to the Chicago office first, the it gets forwarded to the specified office of your I-130 (CSC or VSC). You can then add it to the website under your USCIS Account and it will show 2 different "cases"..

This is bullcrap. i just called them and their automated phone thing says my receipt number isn't in their system. its after hours so i'll have to call again tomorrow.
Is there a different site for the I-129F from the I-130???

It is strange it's not in the system yet even after your NOA1 arrived by snail mail.

It's not a different site, it's the same, there is a link you can click on your existing I-130 account page to add another account. Then enter your MSC number.

For what it's worth - your paper NOA1 confirms our suspicion that the end number stamped on the check is '-1' from what the actual case number is.

gogo Posted Today, 07:27 AM Hello (anyone?,

what is the X'fer date and X'fer location in G&A's chart?

GoGo - yes the Xfer on the charts means your case was transferred to either CSC (california) or VSC (vermont)

BTW all: I am trying to figure out if I've got it straight on what happens next: I have my I-129F NOA1 so is my case still trackable for touches and updates on the USCIS web page until they send me a NOA2 (approval)? Then it's after that when it is sent to NVC, where I have to start either emailing or phoning to get updates? - is that right?

Well, it would help if i understood what you mean..

AishaB, we don't understand if you folks are only filing the I-130 form to apply for the Ir-1/Cr-1 (which is the "green card") or intend to also file the I-129F for a K-3 (which is the visa to enter the States where you can live while you continue the application for the Ir-1/Cr-1 "green card").

As Urge to Race says, check the 'GUIDES" section above for an explanation of the two forms, it also tells you what the next step is for either route - it's hard to help you unless we know which route you are taking. :)

I do have an MSC number, that's what is getting the error message. I have tried adding it to the existing account with no luck. Oh well, i'll try again tomorrow. That's true it does help others to know that u can add one to the number on the back of the check and that will probably do it.

i'll call them tomorrow and see why its not in the system yet.

Go one further....

On May 26 I mailed my 129F for both my wife and step daughter....

I ve called yesterday and have been told they have not received them...

Today I receive ONE I797... of course you cannot tell which petition it is for (wife or step daughter) ... I check the database and am told MSCXXXXXXXXXX number does not exist

I call the 800 number and am told I am not in the system and that no 1797 has been sent.. I give them the I797 number and am told the number is not valid and was not sent by them

So I have one NOA1 ... but don t know if it is for my Wife or Step Daughter that may or may not be valid

sigh

Well, my hubby phoned the call centre to chase up our missing I130 NOA1 (NOA1 should have been sent on the 27th April, according to the last update on the USCIS site).

Apparently the person on the phone was very unhelpful and said that they could send it out at any point within the 6 months and were not under any obligation to provide it by a specific point within the 6 months (i.e the 30 days you are meant to contact them after, if not received).

Also they said that the NOA1 was 'unimportant' as it is only a sign that they had received the inital petition. When pressed about the importance of the I797 (I think it is) it was pretty much the same response. Is the I797 the same as the NOA1 or are they two completely different things? I'm not quite clear on that.

I'm just glad that we didn't hold out until we received the NOA1 to send in the I129F, who knows how long we would be waiting if we had :(

Yes, you can still track your I129F on the USCIS website for touches and stuff until you get your NOA2. You should not see many more touches on the I130. Have you started calling NVC to see if they got the I130 case?

Well, it would help if i understood what you mean....

We were married in karachi, Pakistan, so the way I understood it, we filed an I 130, and then all of our info would be sent to Islamabad and then my husband would be sent forms for his medical and police report to be done. Also, I tought that I would have to show that I would be able to sponsor my husband as well. I am sorry, but this is somewhat confusing cause of all the darn forms for this and that ....I am not sure now what I should be doing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

Amy

Amy,

The I130, once approved, will be sent to the National Visa Center (NVC), which will do some further processing (might take a month, might take longer) then send it on to the embassy. The embassy will send instructions to your husband on getting his medical, police cert, and other docs together. You will also need to fill out the I864 affidavit of support. This is the CR-1/IR-1 visa route. It will result in a Green Card upon your husbands arrival (with conditions if your marriage is for less than 2 years which must be removed 21 months after he gets it).

The K3 is a non-immigrant visa. It might be faster than the CR-1. to go this route, you would now file the I129F using your receipt from the I130 as proof of having filed it. The K3 petition (the I-129F) goes through the NVC in about a week once it is approved by the Service Center. It might even get processed faster at the service center (historically this was true, but does not appear to be the case any longer). It is a non-immigrant visa, so he would have to file AOS (adjustment of staus to legal permanent resident) once he got here to get his "green card". The AOS application expensive with the new fees going in effect on 7/30/2007. Even though it is non-immigrant, he would still need a medical, police certs, etc. You would most likely have to file a I134 (affidavit of support that is not a binding contract).

I hope this overview helps. Please read the guides for the details.

So I have one NOA1 ... but don t know if it is for my Wife or Step Daughter that may or may not be valid

sigh

Did they cash your check?

I wonder who is the mysterious little organization/mad man who sends random NOA's to unsuspecting victims posing as the USCIS hmmmmmmmmmmm
