hey everyone, i had my interview yesterday and everything went good. my status on the ceac is now 'Administrative Processing' is this normal?????

Yes.  Every case goes through AP.  Most move through quite quickly.  Canadians don't tend to be in AP for very long; if you read back through this forum you'll see a lot of cases end up at "Issued" by the Friday of the same week.

okay thank you, i started freaking out because i was reading what it meant online and saying it could take like up to 5months to review or something crazy like that. i mean they gave me my welcome letter, so i dont see why there would be a huge issue. whewww..relief.

Was approved at interview on the 22nd

CEAC status went to administrative processing same day

Everyone else has received their visa packet and passport back already

our status changed from admistrative processing back to ready and then now to nonimmigrant visa application received on the 28th

this has not changed since

anyone else see something like this happen? It’s been 8 days now and it has not been issued yet, and as I stated everyone else has theirs in hand. Getting worried

I had my interview yesterday, and my status just changed to AP.  oh man.

We did not, nope. I think it came in 2 or 3 days either way. To Vancouver.

quick question - just received my passport/visa and other items from the US consulate in the mail! I assume you can open the Canada Post packaging to retrieve the passport/visa? Just wanted to make sure it's ok to open the packaging, and that there is in fact another envelope in the package that is sealed and not supposed to be opened? haha

Of course it's okay to open, your passport and sealed envelope (do not open this) are inside. Be careful while opening to avoid tearing the sealed envelope. I tore mine getting too excited with the scissors. :D

Yes, they are separate!  There will be a big manila envelope in there with the department seal stamped on the envelope flap (the one that says do not open).  Just don't open that one. ;)

Hello all,

I am preparing to enter the US with my visa this week! Had a couple general questions for you all:

1) What are you all doing for health insurance until your wedding? I was looking at short term plans, but I cannot find any health insurance that classifies as adequate insurance such that during tax season I will not get fined for being 'uninsured'. Does anyone have any tips or insight on this?

2) Aside from bringing your passport w/visa, sealed Do Not Open envelope from MTL consulate, what items do you feel are necessary for the POE? I have seen some individuals bringing their DS-3025 and X-ray with them, so I'll bring that. I will also bring an itemized list of all the things I am flying with for customs/duty purposes, and form 3299 for any items I am shipping. Anything else I am missing?

2.1) Were any of you informed to give your X-ray and DS-3025 to the CBP officer at POE? I saw one person on here that said their doctor informed them to do this, and wanted to know if any of you were informed as well, as I was not. Just want to avoid having to redo and repay for my medical exam in the US and submit I-693 - all these costs are starting to add up! haha

Thanks in advance! Hope this will help others with this step as well :).

The answer for me was to get married as soon as possible (I entered the US on my K1 on a Sunday; I got married at courthouse on Tuesday).  The fear of being uninsured was real.

My understanding is that copies of the x-ray and DS-3025 are in the envelope.  I had the CD with me just in case, but did not offer it and was not asked for it.  I did not have a list of goods with me (I flew with two bags, primarily clothing - the rest of my stuff was shipped an unaccompanied goods that left Canada once I had immigrated) and they did not really care about what I did have with me.  Honestly, POE was a breeze; I made it through customs faster while activating my K1 than if I had been standing in the general line.

We also got married two days after entering. Before marrying it's recommended to apply for SSN in maiden name. Once the SSN arrives you can be added onto your spouse's insurance.

I had two suitcases, one carry-on, and a backpack. No lists at all.

@alniki You won't have to redo the medical as long as your DS-3025 is marked complete.

We were actually able to get me added to my wife's insurance prior to me getting my SSN; once we had a copy of our marriage certificate, we were good to go.  They had said that once I got my SSN, they wanted a copy of it (so when it arrived we passed it along).

Nice! My husband's insurance requires a SSN so we got that done right away.

Question regarding the courier service delivering passport and visa.  I paid the extra fee.  Do they deliver to your home or do you have to go pick it up at the courier office?   When I checked CEAC website it states administrative processing (interview was on Wednesday ).  Then it says at the bottom they will notify me when it is ready for pickup???  I thought it would come to my home because I paid the extra fee but now I’m not sure.   What has been the experience?  Thx!

It should get delivered to your home. They will send you a shipment notice and then Canada Post will also send you an email with tracking. However, you will need to sign for it.
Unfortunately for me, they never came to my door and left a notice in the mailbox down the street telling me to come to the post office after 6pm...unfortunately it wasn't there and the post office just told me to come back tomorrow after 1pm so I didn't really save myself any effort by paying extra 😅I think this is a case of the lazy postman rather than anything else but that's Canada Post for ya
