Hello all. I am trying to complete the DS-160 application, and I came across a section that I hadn't seen the first time around. The section also cannot be accessed when I click forwards through the application, only if I click backwards through it (I know this sounds crazy). The section is for previous work and education.

I didn't have that section either.  In the Nov/Dec thread I asked the same question you did.  Some people had previous work/education, some did not.  No one seemed panicked the way I was.  I think @NicoleM did not have questions about previous work/education and she has her interview today so I guess we'll find out if it's a big deal (I don't think it is)

Got my Packet 4 today. Just booked my interview May 22 ( 3 appointments left) and 29 (3 appointments left) Sending in your Packet 3 ahead of time works, and I suggest do it. Worse case they'll say you can't and then just submit it when you get the 2nd ready like others have suggested.

Do you happen to know the date that was on the bottom of the Packet 3 you sent in? I had a bit of an address mishap so I'm worried I might not receive the packet 3 or it might be late. The ones I've seen that can be downloaded online show either "Revised: 29-Mar-2016", which has been a few years now, or a 2014 date, which is even worse

Mine said March 29, 2016.  I sent it in March 22 and got the P4 back within hours.

ok good to know. to  be honest, I think it's a bug in the website (which doesn't surprise me since this website is ancient and has many other issues). It was near impossible for me to stumble upon the section (literally have to go backwards, and only shows up sometimes). And when it does show up, it won't save my entries at all. So I plan to just keep my entry for my current job and I think that should be fine. but would be interested to hear what @NicoleM says about her interview! maybe as a backup i'll bring a copy of my resume to my interview.

How did you schedule medical without the interview confirmation page?

This is getting extremely frustrating that we haven’t changed yet! I only know one other person waiting. I thought it would be today! But it’s not changed so far. They just shipped a whole new set yesterday.

I wouldn't put too much stock into the In Transit - CEAC website is probably on vacation. Assuming you haven't yet, it might be worth it to try to send in your P3 within the next week and see what happens. If they reject it, wait a week and try again. If they reject it again, then it's worth WTFing. :)

Drs office didn’t ask me anything.  Just made the appointment for when I wanted it.  I know I need approval before I can attend but I wanted to get appointment in case they were busy.

Have you tried sending in your P3 yet? Also what city is your medical in?

I think the medicals work a bit different than the interviews in the sense they don't "get busy" or "fill up" - That is why they require people to have the interview booked, to make sure that everyone who has their interview is able to attend the medical with no issues and they can't just fill up with random folks booking time too early. Appts are distributed out evenly with the amount of interviews that are booked. Never ever have I heard of a case where someone was unable to get a medical appt before their interview. Basically what I'm trying to say is, don't stress about that part. And you have more than enough time between now and May 13 to secure the interview.... it just might be that the interview is a bit far out from medical. :)

I am thinking of sending P3 on Friday if nothing has changed.  Worse case scenario it gets rejected.

Definitely do it! March 19th shippers are right on the timeline where P3 would ordinarily be sent out, so my guess is CEAC is just glitched or someone just skipped inputting a whole load of those dates into the system. It is humans behind that process after all.

Thanks for thoughts.  I’m going to send it tonight.  Can’t hurt.

We are going to try today....

got an email from Montreal Monday stating they don’t have our case yet... so I’m kind of scared they really just don’t. Others have already gotten their first and second ready status from our shipment. This is really frustrating

Did you track the shipment on the DHL tracker? Did they say they don't have your case yet after you sent a general inquiry? What e-mail address did you contact? MTL isn't great with helpful replies either way.

They probably use the same tracker we do to check lol. I'm skeptical of that reply. Try P3 for sure and see what happens. P3 submissions get passed along to the Visa unit, I think general inquiries stop at an administrative employee (just a guess), so you might get different results with P3. 🤞

Here’s the email....

We are setting up the new printer/scanner now so we can try.

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your inquiry.

According to our records we do not have a pending visa case for you at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal. Your case might still be at the National Visa Center (NVC) or in mail transit to Montreal.

As soon as the Visa Unit receives your case, we will contact you with instructions for the next steps in processing your case.

Meanwhile, we recommend that you review the detailed information regarding the K-1 fiancé visa processing available on the website of the Department of State here http://nvc.state.gov/k1

Best Regards,

OP03

Correspondence Unit

US Consulate General in Montreal

Yeah, eff that, "Correspondence Unit" the least helpful. They probably threw your case number into the same system that showed "In Transit" to you and sent that stock reply. What did you say in your e-mail though?

I just checked the March 19th shipments on DHL and all 3 pieces that left NVC made it to Montreal and were signed for on March 21st. Your case is definitely at the consulate unless somehow it never made it out of NVC despite being updated to "In Transit".

I'd say try P3, if no luck, maybe give NVC a call.
