They don't.  That is not required.  NVC requires the LATEST tax transcript but mentions that you CAN include two previous years if you feel it will help your case.  RV simply doesn't know what they are doing but they make a lot of money.  $26k meets the requirement for 2 and is just short of 3.

Thank You

Like I said, RV doesn't have a clue.  Logically, how does your income from 3 years ago prove to anyone that you can support someone this year?  You can do what they say or you can follow the guidelines stated on the official government site.  Keep in mind, they are the same people who told me I didn't have to disclose a 30 year old arrest that was dropped and expunged.  I don't trust them and I never will.  They can hurt you more than they help you.

The fact that they talk about the 100% requirement for a CR-1 already lets you know that are full of it.  The joint sponsor must meet the 125% of the requirement.  They are already setting people up to fail.  I wonder if that is part of their marketing???? Hmmmm

Thats the scary part, being set up to fail...

So don't use a visa company and do it yourself like many others on this forum.  I did my CR1 and my roc on my own.  If i ever get citizenship I will do that on my own.  It's really not hard, just attention to detail.

I'm sorry you seem to be stuck with using them.  There are better systems out there.  Regardless only CURRENT income needs to be above the poverty guidelines.

In the IR1/CR1 we do not use co-sponsors.  That is directly for the I-134 which is a non-legally binding contract.  With the IR1/CR1 or with an adjustment of status, we use the I-864 which is a legally binding contract between the sponsor and the US government.

Co-sponsors can be used in the CR process and I-864.  CEAC even has a spot to add them that is right on the front page.

We can do everything that they can do for you and we are cheaper!  You do most of the work yourself even when you use them.  You still answer the questions and get the backup together.  You send it to them and they mail your package...for hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars.

For the I-864, they are referred to as joint sponsors. In most cases, it's a distinction without a difference, but generally the term joint sponsor is preferred for the legally enforceable affidavit.

This can only be true if a person is fully motivated, capable of, and actually WILL study sufficiently, to know which questions to ask.  If you don't know what you don't know, you will never know what to ask.  The vicious circle is that if you don't ask, you don't know.
