mmm that is an interesting question! never thought about it...

my fiance is half german, half russian...I'm 3/4 spanish, 1/4 italian...

maybe by the time we have kids they'll just have a box that says "weird mix"

Nope, they'll just be white.

Oh no! I'll be the only one that can dance in the house!

Just kidding...I still think they'll be something like "hispanic-american" or wathever is closer to that

I just saw this.

So, Hispanic or Latino is ethnicity and NOT race. I thought Hispanic would be Spanish speaking, no?

I guess it has to be Hispanic Asian, Latino Caucasian or whatever... :o

What Are The New Standards And When Do They Take Effect?

In October 1997, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) announced the revised standards for federal data on race and ethnicity. The minimum categories for race are now: American Indian or Alaska Native; Asian; Black or African American; Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander; and White. Instead of allowing a multiracial category as was originally suggested in public and congressional hearings, the OMB adopted the Interagency Committee's recommendation to allow respondents to select one or more races when they self-identify. With the OMB's approval, the Census 2000 questionnaires also include a sixth racial category: Some Other Race. There are also two minimum categories for ethnicity: Hispanic or Latino and Not Hispanic or Latino. Hispanics and Latinos may be of any race.

Seriously, does ANYONE really know for sure? :D

Ahh, Google is going in the direction of helping people find out about their genetic makeup if I understand the announcement correctly :)

Google invested in 23andMe as part of its goal of developing new ways to help people make sense of their genetic information, spokesman Jon Murchinson said in a statement. He said Brin recused himself from all management and board discussions about the 23andMe investment to avoid a conflict of interest.

23andMe .. Sounds scary to me
