Hi everyone,

My wife and I have lived together since we got married. Recently, I got accepted to a graduate school in a different city but in the same state, so I rented an apt there to study. My wife stays at our old house because she has a job there. However, I always come back to our home to visit my wife on the weekend and holidays. To better manage my mail, I updated my mailing address with USCIS to the new apartment where I'm going to study but still kept the physical address at hour home. Do you guys think having different physical and mailing address would cause problems? Has anyone done that before? Should I change my mailing address back to the old address? I would highly appreciate any input. Thank you.

Don't think that having a different mailing address will be problem. A lot of people have different mailing and physical address for various reasons.

I did that because we were moving to a new place after six weeks or so mailing the ROC application and I was still not sure exactly when they would respond with the receipt letter and so I had my work address as the mailing address. They mailed the letter to my work.

I had a different physical and mailing address on my I-751 application because of where we live. We do not get the mail delivered to our house directly. It is not a problem, at all. In your situation, you changed the mailing address because you moved. In my opinion, since you keep visiting your home, there is no need to change the mailing address.
