In the process of renewing my resident card. I've completed the i-751 and the biometrics. I've read that I should be receiving some sort of notice for an extension of stay. I haven't received it yet. How long does it usually take to receive? I also have a passing in my family that just happen, and I was looking to fly out this weekend (Saturday 2/09) but was worried that I might not be-able to re-enter the country. Not sure what to do, and in a confused state of mind. I can't call or even visit a local office, since they are closed for the weekend. Any quick help or answer would be appreciated.

Thanks

Has your Green Card expired?  If not, you can re-enter the US with it until the day it expires.  Otherwise you will need the extension letter that you should have gotten along with your expired green card............or you could visit a USCIS office to get a stamp extending..........I would not advise leaving the country without some valid re-entry document...........although if you tried to re-enter with only an expired Green card, you would probably be allowed in after a lot of questioning and hassle.......just my opinion.

When did you file the I-751?

Do not travel since you don't have extension letter. Better delay the flight and wall-in to USCIS office and explain the situation with them on Monday and ask for them stamp.

I filed the 3rd week November 2018

If you filed back in November then you should have gotten a response by now.

I agree with others that it is best NOT to travel out of the US until you figure out what is going on with your case.

Firstly sorry about your loss.

I agree with others that you should not travel until you have valid proof of your LPR status. Without valid travel documents, you will not be allowed to board your flight back to US, let alone allowed entry into US by CBP.

Since your 2yr GC has expired, in order to re-enter US you would need either:

- 2yr expired GC + Extension notice   OR

- I-551 stamp on your passport

I think the best option in your current situation would be to get an I-551 stamp from your local field office. Good luck!
