Yep read it and Ive read every type of FBI screening type, thanks I'll give it another read.  I had the SSSS on my boarding passes 4 times in a row in 2017 so it's possible some "bad" person has a name or aias that matches mine though with two midddle names I'd have to be very unlucky!!

Yes, something like that from the airlines could certainly throw you into additional screening to be sorted.

That's the scary bit, that could take many months more to sort

We've just done the same this morning with my senator (this is our 3rd inquiry.. 120 days on Saturday).

I'm in my third month of Administrative Processing. I've just gather up all my documents to have my Senator office to make an inquiry on my behalf. I hope this speed up my process.

I don't know if either of you have read this transcript of a teleconference session concerning the K1 screening process. It gives some insight into how many and what types of records they check. It's a little more than 3 years old so the numbers and databases have probably increased.

https://2009-2017.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2015/12/250747.htm

Yep, I've done extensive Googling over the types of Visas checks they run with all the code names. I've searched FBI most wanted records and did find a bank robber in New Mexico with near identical name as my fiance but not even remotely close DOB. I feel like my fiance not having a middle name is a factor in this (if it's security checks) or possibly his dad being born in Jamaica in the 50s (though he's a citizen of UK).

We just looked back over his boarding passes and he has SSSS on his very first flight ever (and it happened to be to me in America). Yikes, I wonder if this is part of it.

All 4 of mine were on subsequent visits to see Chayne. I’ve asked another friend in extended ap if her fiancé is the same will let you know.

I have a question: does additional screening ever happen at random, or is it pre-designated and done because there is a genuine flag on your name?

I generally fly 3-4 times a year (to America but also to places in Europe) and I’ve never had additional screening before - however, when I flew in October (to US), I was sent for additional screening at Heathrow (where they check your bag and swab you for explosives etc) - it was very quick and easy, didn’t have to go to a separate room or anything - but I don’t save my boarding cards, so can’t confirm if it said anything about it on it. During the search they did find several miniature pots of Marmite in my handbag, that I didn’t know were there and somehow security hadn’t questioned when my bag went through the scanner. The lady doing the additional screening thought it was hilarious (I was telling her, I’m not even a massive Marmite fan, I’m fairly ambivalent towards it...😆)...and I got to keep the Marmite 😆.

Should I be concerned or is it likely just a random check?

Sorry if this is considered hijacking a thread, I don’t mean to do that Amanda. 😕

Out of 5 trips to the USA before i moved to Jake, i only had additional security screening ONCE & it happened to be on my one way flight with Jake, with my K1 fiancé visa in hand. I had the wipe down of my hand luggage & my shoes etc. & no issues, i honestly believe it is at random

thats a completely random check, ive had it before too. They try and vary the amount of people they swab ie male/ female / young / old / white / black etc so literally anyone can be swabbed. Also it wont be recorded that you had this test anywhere either.

So senator’s office got the reply below. Chayne thinks it’s the worst kind of canned response, I read it as optimistic that we may be finally at visa processing time.

Inquiry asked for file to be found and to check if there was any annotation on my file preventing issuance of a visa and not an error on ceac or the computer system.

What do you think am I being overly optimistic? Senators office said if nothing in 14 days let them know and they will send another inquiry.

*xxx where names were to prevent identifying info.

Thank you for your correspondence on behalf of Senator Xxxxx constituent regarding Ms xxxxx application for an immigrant visa.

Our records indicate that Ms. Xxxx application is in the final stages of processing. The average timeframe for an immigrant visa application is 7-10 working days plus a further 1- 2 days for delivery. However, as processing varies in every case, timescales are given for guidance only. As soon as delivery arrangements have been made, the courier will send delivery tracking information to the email address provided when Ms. Xxxxx visa interview appointment was scheduled.

I hope this information is helpful in responding to your constituent.

That reads to me that theyve found your application and can see its on final processing but i believe this is the stage youve been stuck at for a while ? The rest of it is just generic information which I dont think is specific to your case. I have no idea whats taking them so long with your application, i hope it gets sorted soon !

So you read it as a giant fob off then same as Chayne did but worse than any we’ve had before. @Wuozopo what do you think?

Sorry Amanda I read that the same as your partner, you have already over ran the timeline stated in that response, it just seem like a generic letter sent out and as though they have not taken into account the query in question, I do hope it gets resolved soon though, I appreciate how frustrating this must be for you 😔

Follow up again with them in 14 days.  Use the same email chain, but change the subject line to something like:  2nd Attempt - Action Required.  Sometimes that gets a little more than an automatic reply.

To me, it looks like they may have just looked at your case status, rather than investigate to answer the concerns your fiancé raised.

Immigration, much like healthcare, you really have to be your own advocate.

Every day that goes by is one day closer to

visa in hand, even though I know it’s a special kind of frustrating waiting on that part of the process bc your lives are kinda just in a weird holding/limbo pattern.

I have never wanted a strangers visa to be approved so badly as I do for yours haha.  All my positive vibes are for you :)
