That kind of sucks that after 13 years in the US you need to go back for reasons basically out of your control. Well best of luck while you are there, and remember you need to stay unmarried as long as your parents are only green card holders to get your green card too.

Thanks  a lot. Looking to start my life all over again in a different country with totally contrasting cultures. Will take it as a challenge and hope for best.

Did you exit USA? If no, there is no ban.

There has been no unlawful stay from what I can figure out so no ban anyway.

I do hope there is no suggestion that OP should knowingly stay illegally now that all avenues for legal stay appear to have been exhausted for now.

To back up above, from USCIS:

What if I file for change of status on time but USCIS does not make a decision before my I-94 expires?

Your lawful nonimmigrant status ends and you are out of status when your Form I-94 expires, even if you have timely applied to change your nonimmigrant status. ....
Even though you are not actually in a lawful nonimmigrant status, you do not accrue “unlawful presence” for purposes of inadmissibility under section 212(a)(9)(B) of the Act, while your change of status application is pending if it was filed prior to the expiration of your Form I-94.

So you aged out from a H1b, and you have to be in status to adjust status.

H-4 status to be exact.

And left in May 2018 so would have a 3 year ban, not that that matters as it will take much longer than that for your Parents to petition you.

The link @SusieQQQ provided says no ban since the I-539 was filed before OP's H-4 status ended.

Depending on your education level and work experience you can look into work visas to certain Western countries* (in Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc.). If approved for a work visa for a Western country, then you won't have to wait the whole time for your F2B process only in India.

*You can also look into H-1B US visa since its a dual intent visa. But if I'm not mistaken, H-1B issuance has decreased.
