She will miss my daughter so bad. My mom raise her and take good care of her in the PH. The father of my child is nothing to do with this and he's not on my child's birth certificate. I

Quite honestly I am confused.  So you left your daughter in the Philippines for years and now you want to bring her, and your mom will miss her so much.  You were unable to care for her when you came to the US?  It's kind of confusing.  But I wish you and your daughter/husband the best.  Good luck and God Bless.

So you now intend to take your daughter from the "mother" who has been raising her.    What about worrying about the CHILD"S emotional health.  You abandoned her when you came to the US, and now you intend to remove her from her home making it seem like her mother figure is also abandoning her.

What does your spouse think about the plan?

Get over yourself.  There was no abandonment.

In many cultures, it's normal for a parent to leave a child in the care of the grandparent while the parent goes off to work somewhere else.  NORMAL PART OF MANY CULTURES.  Mom did not abandoned her child.  She left her child in the care of a loving family member.

OP left her daughter with grandma while she set up her life in US and is now ready to bring her child to the US.

With a little planning, both her mother and child could immigrate to US at the same time.

Just because it occurs in a culture does not mean that it is a good option without long term effects - especially if the person moves to a place where the event is uncommon and unacceptable.  In the US, a child living with a grandparent indicates the parent is unavailable due to death or inappropriate behavior (prison, drugs, ...)

Interesting.

I spent the first 6 months of my life with my Grandparents, so how does that fit in? US and UK are not that different.

Oh, you may be right.  I think I read the child is now 9.  But I guess the mother has been here for 5 years?  Sorry, I went to public school.
