calling after NOA2

If you call and get your case number after noa2 does it make the process a bit quicker or do you have to wait for the email and letter with the number? trying to see if I get the number I can get my medical and interview etc sooner rather than wait for the letter to be sent.

it gives u some insight sooner if u call.

 

for example,  infrequently the file is returned to uscis for a "fix", rarely it is delayed significantly and u have to request research for them to locate the file (after 6 weeks from NOA2). Sometimes it is given a case number that doesn't match the consulate u were expecting...  It doesn't make anything faster but it informs u what is going on and/or if you need to intervene.

Depends on your embassy. In Canada, even after calling NVC for my case #, I had to wait to receive P3, send back P3, and then receive P4 before I could even book an interview/medical. Check for your specific embassy.
