Should you update NOA2 when it was approved or when you get the hard copy in mail? I feel like some that are updating their timeline are confused on this

It should go off the actual date on the hard copy of the NOA2, which should match the online date shown also. If they are putting the actual date they receive the hard copy then it's off by a week or so probably but still relatively close to the approval date.

08/15/2014 : Met Online

06/30/2016 : I-129F Packet Sent

11/08/2016 : Interview - APPROVED!

11/23/2016 : POE - Dallas, Texas

From sending of I-129F petiton to POE - 146 days.

I’m asking because all mail is different. There is an official date when the NOA2 was approved. I would assume that’s what you go by instead of your local mail. Also my “online date” still shows my NOA1 date. They don’t update that correctly so it definitely should not go off of that.

Thank you. Ready for more inputs on this question

if you see it updated on either of the websites, you can list that and update it later if the hardcopy shows a different date. that is what i did because the new site showed me one date, but the letter showed me a different date a week later when i received it

RoC sent 10/30/21

NOA 11/16/21

Check Cashed 11/18/21

Biometrics Waived 01/19/2022

Neither site has updated for me. So I just put the date it was approved on the NOA2 hard copy

When I first got my NOA2 it was via an update on the websites, it stated 26 Dec so that’s what I updated my timeline to. A few days later it was received in the mail and stated 21 Dec so I changed my timeline to that. The hard copy is the accurate one, humans forget to update things i.e. the website.
