I didn’t file AOS yet. That was my first plan too until I bumped to a similar question like this on facebook groups and people are saying we should change address online.

Fill out an AR-11 online to be safe: https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do It's technically a misdemeanor if non-citizens don't provide their new address to USCIS within 10 days; https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange:

Quote

Penalties for Failure to Comply

A willful failure to give written notice to the USCIS of a change of address within 10 days of moving to the new address is a misdemeanor crime. If convicted, you (or the parent or legal guardian of an alien under 14 years of age who is required to give notice) can be fined up to $200 or imprisoned up to 30 days, or both. The alien may also be subject to removal from the United States. (INA Section 266(b)). Compliance with the requirement to notify the USCIS of any address changes is also a condition of your stay in the United States. Failure to comply could also jeopardize your ability to obtain a future visa or other immigration benefit.

This requirement only stops if:

  • you become a naturalized US citizen; OR
  • you leave the US and abandon Lawful Permanent Resident status (or other status)

People move a lot in the US, so different address from K1 visa to AOS is something usual plus you have new set of forms to file. I don't see why people should live at the same place all the time or you file AOS with your old address where you no longer live there only to change it later after you file AOS which to me doesn't make any sense

Same thought! But I am getting mixed answers, some say it's okay not to file, some say it's a misdemeanor not to file.

Hey possibly some stupid questions but would rather be safe than sorry lol

I-485 Pg 7 Part 5 Q.3 - how many times have you been married. This is my first marriage to do I put 1 or 0.

I put 1

On all forms - put N/A or blank for questions not relating to me

I am going to put N/A at the top of each section that is not applicable to me and the others blank.

22 hours ago, Nicola and Jordan said:

Do we need to submit any evidence like we did in K1 such as photos etc? I know we need to submit W2s, marriage cert etc but wasn’t sure about evidence of a continued relationship

1

I don't think so, you may need to gather that for the interview I would have thought.

22 hours ago, Nicola and Jordan said:

Do we do one combined total on the credit card form for AOS and biometrics or 2 separate?

I am doing it combined.

22 hours ago, Nicola and Jordan said:

I had my medical in November as part of my K1, what do I need to do with regards to the medical, is there anything on them I-693 that I need to complete?

Had my medical in January and I understand it is valid for one year, so the only thing we need to supply is a copy of the DS-3025, which should show that you have received all vaccinations required.

22 hours ago, Nicola and Jordan said:

Might have more but I have almost finished the paperwork lol

We are in the same boat. I cannot wait to post off this batch of paperwork, less so the fee lol

In the meantime, I have been busy gathering my social security and driving license stuff.

Thank you so much!! I don’t know why but I’m finding this paperwork a lot more confusing that the I-129f lol. I received my SSN on Tuesday it only took me a week to get it (NYC). I am just finalising all of the tax paperwork ensuring we have everything. Do you know where the AOS is processed? Xx

Unless you have filed AOS before and then you move, then you want to update them with your new address. If you haven't filed it and you're not an abuse spouse under the Cuban adjustment act, you're not supposed to file AR11 online. Read the page you posted yourself more carefully

Hi Alex,

I am not sure what the rules are in FL. In CT, we have to do a theory test, an 8 hour safe driving course and then a road test. As I hold a UK licence I do not have to adhere to the 90 waiting period that new drivers need to wait.

After completing and passing my theory today I was given a temporary Adult learner permit. The real one will come in the mail in the next 10 days. I am not aware what the expiration date of that card will be.  The woman at the DMV said that in all likelihood if I am quick I may even get my full CT state driving licence not long after getting this adult permit licence.

No one has asked about when my I94 or K1 expires. I have however married and will be filing my AOS the first week of February so plenty of time before either expires. I hope this helps in some way. Claire

Re-read the page: https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange USCIS explicitly states that non-citizens must report a change of address within 10 days. The exceptions to this include:

  • Diplomats (visa status A);
  • Official government representatives to an international organization (visa status G); and
  • Certain nonimmigrants who do not possess a visa and who are in the U.S. for less than 30 days.

Thus, individuals that entered the US with K-1 visas must notify USCIS of a change of address within 10 days, as per the Immigration and Nationality Act parts 265 and 266. The law is clear. Even if those individuals have not filed AOS yet, they must still notify USCIS within 10 days.

  • Diplomats (visa status A);
  • Official government representatives to an international organization (visa status G); and
  • Certain nonimmigrants who do not possess a visa and who are in the U.S. for less than 30 days.

Thus, individuals that entered the US with K-1 visas must notify USCIS of a change of address within 10 days, as per the Immigration and Nationality Act parts 265 and 266. The law is clear. Even if those individuals have not filed AOS yet, they must still notify USCIS within 10 days.

How the non citizen change their address IF they never established residence?
