This is so weird. While I am waiting for the EAD and hoping it will come faster.

I receive a text message saying my interview for I-485 is ready to schedule interview!!!

What.......

I am in the bay area California, and the San Francisco CIS office is one of the longest waiting time office (21.5 months). I read a notice from USCIS few weeks before that some heavy-caseload office may transfer cases to nearby offices to shorten the waiting time. But I expect my green card interview to be next year.

There's a very big difference between "ready to schedule an interview" and "interview was scheduled".

You can be in "ready to schedule an interview" for quite a long time at a slow field office.

I am so surprised!!! My NOA 1 is Feb 4, 2019.

Keep hopeful, good things may happen.

Yes, it will change to 'Ready to be scheduled for Interview' and then the looooong wait begins.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I would be amazed if you get your actual interview this year in SF.

Congrats to everyone who has some progress this week.  That certainly gives the rest of us hope.  Good luck if you have upcoming interviews and if you are electing to file an expedite make sure to include as much evidence as you can about how great of a career opportunity you have and how this will be a turning point in your career.  Try not to explain that your broke or board sitting at home or whatever it is.  If you came on a K1 visa then your spouse guaranteed to support you as per the terms of your visa.  So by saying you have no income only proves that your spouse is not fulfilling the visa obligation and will not convince the adjudicator to expedite your process.  From what i understand the expedition request is rarely granted unless there is very extreme circumstances and these circumstances are usually not possible unless you are under asylum or refugee status, I.E. you just arrived in this country and cannot support your family because you are waiting for work authorization.  This circumstance should not be possible if you came here under a K1 visa because somebody agreed to sponsor you.  However it is still an option for us to file the expedition and it is there for a reason so it is not impossible.  Just remember to be thoroughly convincing that this would be a life changing opportunity that would be devastating to lose.  Good luck and if you decide to do it, let us know how it goes.

Feb 2 2019 Noa1-er here.

No word on my EAD/AP

Just received notice that my AOS interview is going to be scheduled (sent out in the mail I presume) as of May 31st. Least that's something, I guess....

Hi Feb filers,

So I'm still stuck on 'interview is going to be scheduled' over a month later and have learnt that it could take months or even a year to get this GC interview.

Can I confirm one thing (if anyone knows) - because they are 'scheduling' my GC interview does that mean I will NOT get the EAD/AP? I have not received either yet and now realising what a long wait this GC interview may be I'm quite worried.

My office is Buffalo btw.

Cheers

Hey,

another February filer here. Last Thursday I got a notification that my interview was scheduled. Waiting for the mail.

Date Filed : 2019-02-14
NOA Date : 2019-02-21
Bio. Appt. : 2019-03-13

Fun fact: I applied for an expedite in May and contacted my congressman. They told me the person from USCIS promised my case "is on the table and will be processed soon". It's been 2 weeks.

Reading other people's posts here it seems like the GC will be processed earlier than EAD.

I just spoke to a uscis representative about my case.

I asked if my medical exam done prior my K1 would still be valid to be approved for a GC. She said it had to be sent within my AOS packet max 60 days after my doctor had signed it, which I didn’t. I sent it after 3 months of taking that exam.

she said I need to get a new medical exam done and I was wondering if any of you people have had experiences with that?

Unless its something that was enacted recently, the rep you spoke to is not right. We just had our interview on the 20th of last month. My wife went it for her medical in Ankara in October 2018 and we applied for her AOS in March 2019. The IO didnt have any issues with the validity of her medical forms.

That's good to know, thank you for sharing your experience. I was confused too by her statement, and I keep hearing of people who didn't get denied because of the "expired" medical. I don't really know what to do haha.

How long did it take between the Interview Was Scheduled notice and the actual interview?

Hello Alice,

Welcome to the waiting room.  To answer your question directly, no your EAD/AP applications are and will be in process until they are approved or you are APPROVED for GC.  In the latter case the pending EAD/AP applications are closed because your new GC will serve as the EAD and AP all in one card.  As you have learned it can take months or years to get your interview scheduled and this is actually the exact reason why you applied for EAD/AP separately, so that you can get permission to work and travel BEFORE your GC application is processed.  Historically it has always been that EAD and AP's were approved much much faster relative to the GC but these days we are seeing huge delays in the normal processing times.  So now everyone is in position of not knowing what to expect first, the EAD or the GC.  It is unprecedented.  At this point i think many of us would be grateful for any one of the three.  my thoughts to you is just keep waiting patiently and see what gets approved first.  You can also try to file an expedite as some of the other users here have found success with that.  Hope this helps.
