My estimates have gone from May 20th to July 14th, I know these are estimates on the VJ website and not from USCIS but the wait times for EAD and AP are absolutely ridiculous! I check the "processing times" page on VJ almost daily - and the info there said it was currently processing EADs from January 10th earlier this month, then went back to December 24th! Did USCIS find a bunch of EAD applications they'd misplaced or something?!

I have looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong-ago completely dismissed the VJ estimates.  They are absolutely, positively, unreliable, as they are based on the feedback and timelines from the very members of these forums to draw the estimates.  Please do NOT use these timelines with ANY sense of legitimacy.  The closest thing you'll get is the timelines as provided by the USCIS on their website.  Even then...meh?  But definitely do NOT rely on the timelines here, nor those emails you get Sunday evenings.

Good luck to you, and the rest of us!

It’s pretty quiet on this forum lately.. 😕 hoping to see some approvals!

When there are so few applicants getting anywhere, there really isn't anything to talk about......

How about how nice the weather is getting?!  Hahaha!

Does anyone know why it's taking so long for EAD/AP?
We have been scrutinized upon K1 approval... What else is taking so long? Can't they just log our info in, print it out and mail it? haha.

Guessing it's volume related and mostly because either no one at USCIS relies slow green card processing creates a negative feedback loop or they know but can't do anything about the root cause.

If there's no reasonable expectation of getting AOS approved in under 3 months, everyone rational is going to apply for EAD/AP. Which creates more work for them. Which makes EAD/AP take longer too. Which leads to more expedite and emergency AP requests (which are handled by local field offices, but still need to be handled by someone).

We were told by a Tier 2 officer that all applications for EAD/AP are reviewed by security personnel. For each applicant, all FAMILY members of that applicant must also be checked out (I don't know what this means specifically, I'm assuming background checks, etc). So it can take a very, very long time to approve an applicant's combo card if they have a large family (again I'm assuming nuclear family, but we weren't given details). The officer used this as one of the reasons why you see a few cases back to back get done pretty quickly, and then a really long stall.

Do you have any idea how quickly they usually ship the card once the status changes to “card being produced”?

I didn't ever get my EAD/AP combo card. I got the GC first.

For my GC, the timeline was as follows:

2019-05-21 Card in production

2019-05-22 Card was mailed to you (no tracking)

2019-05-23 Update that USPS picked up the card (included tracking number). Estimated arrival: May 28

2019-05-24 I-130 and I-485 Approval Letters received via USPS.

2019-05-29 GC received.

So, about 8 days from card in production until card received, and that included the long Memorial Day weekend.
